Well, I’m starting to come out of the conference fog that Gill Fielding has always told me she experiences (and that Judith Morgan describes so eloquently in her blog at typepad.com/">http://judithmorgan.typepad.com ).
After such a big, 4 day, full on, fantastic event (thanks, Ted, Brett, Tom and Alan for inviting me) you must expect a couple of days of "downer" as you really are on an adrenaline high - especially if you are speaking for the first time, you stay up far too late five nights on the trot, and your book comes out the same week.
But I’ve felt tired, weird, but deeply happy this week, compounded by my daughter Phoebe’s fascination by my momento trophy thing, kindly donated by the very handsome Martin representing http://www.1shoppingcart.com , to all the speakers.
She loves a nice bit of Schwarzkopf type Crystal and when she clapped eyes on my momento, suddenly I went up in her estimation. "ere, Mummy, that’s nice………..have you got any of your books left?" she asked.
"Well, I gave all mine away at the Internet Summit" I said cautiously, "but Steve might have one".
"Can I write down what you do, take the book in and show them your glass ball thingy for show and tell?" she asked.
"Yes, if you don’t drop it" I said. So we wrapped it up in a tea towel carefully then put it in a sexy typepad.com">Judith Morgan carrier bag.
"By the way, what DO you do, just so I can tell them?" Suddenly she’s interested in where her pocket money comes from.
Amazing what a bit of CNN exposure, a bit of sparkle, the sight of a real book with mummy’s name on and the thought that her audio blog was played in front of 120 people can do.
Shaping up like a chip off the old block? I think so!
The funniest thing is that her teacher has kept the copy of the Money Gym book that I donated to the school library (Steve doesn’t know it’s his copy!) because Mr Aylward, her teacher, is suddenly interested in the whole wealth creation concept ………..
What fun!
