The Magic Is In….

"The magic is in risking all for a dream that no-one else can even see" – a great quote from Morgan Freeman in "Million Dollar Baby".
A marvellous film but not at all what you would expect and I can tell you, not a film for people with father or abondonment issues. The tissues were out in force last night in the NCA Virtual Household, I can tell you!

Well, I’ve been very impressed with the levels of interest in trackbacking and pinging from my last email – sorry I uploaded the video to the wrong folder in Steve’s absence. Even Radio 4 have been talking about blogging apparently!
Just to remind you all, the Top 10 Benefits of Blogging for your business are:

One of my Money Gym clients sent me this today:
"Ok, so you’re only doing it one child at a time, right now, but my child (aged 17) has just had a conversation with her sourcing agent and settled on the first buy-to-let property she is buying.

Fancy Learning About Interior Design?

Client and friend Sandy McMorran came down for a chat last week, and as she’s been getting on so well with her HTML newsletter, I thought it was time she had a blog. No sooner said than done, and you can find our about her latest informal but informative, fun, hand’s on courses in London, also find out what the life of a professional interior designer is like here >>>>>
She’s always saying to me that I could come on one of her workshops, but I’m afraid, like cleaning, gardening and beautifying myself, this is something that I prefer to leave to the professionals……….unless it’s a home waxing session which is what Phoebe, Steve and I had great fun with the other evening (but that’s a whole other story!)

Emily Gordon, my new Money Gym Platinum client has hit the ground running with three new blogs and she is blogging on not only two of her passions but on what it’s like working with me!
Scary stuff! She is going through the usual ups and downs and it’s a compelling read. Why not check out her blog and give her some support, eh? I’m just going to surprise her and give her her first trackback and ping (click here for a video on how to do that)
Love In The Kitchen

I’ve just joined a great sounding dating thingy called Love In The Kitchen, based in Brighton, recommended by my husband of all people.
Apparently, they match up 8 people a month and invite them to a fabulous dinner, with fine wine, in lovely surroundings, and you have a great dinner party. Do they let the chef out of the kitchen I wonder…..

One of my clients, Alexis Garnaut-Miller is very big into NLP and while I’ve never been keen, I respect and like Alexis enormously so I tend to listen to what she says mostly.
She posted on her blog recently about a neat little software tool that you download to your computer (you know I’m a sucker for downloads) and you program it to send you subliminal messages throughout the day.
So I’m looking at the website (and thinking "are they sending me subliminal messages right now saying "buy, buy" …….

Most of you have read the scare-mail about the person whose kidneys were stolen while he was passed out. Well, read on. While the kidney story was an urban legend, this one is not. It’s happening every day. My thighs were stolen from me …..
Starting to think about losing weight

Greg from Ballard Shaw has been losing weight and whenever I go up to their offices, he always has intriguing things on his desk to eat, like punnets of organic pineapple pieces. He’s been banging on at me for a little while now about cutting out carbs – bread, wheat, pasta, potatoes – and I have to say, the only diet that I’ve ever managed to stick to in the past was the "Fit For Life" diet which is not combining certain kinds of foods and only eating fruit till lunchtime.
Now I find fruit very boring but I am mad on Innocent Drinks Fruit Smoothies so that is an option.
Greg swears that if I just cut out carbs I would lose 1lb a week and I have made a mini spreadsheet that tells me that, if I lost 1lb every week, I would reach my target weight by my birthday next year.
Now, I can’t tell you how many of these spreadsheets I have done, and each time I do a new one, it’s usually a trigger to put on even more weight.
But I’m doing things differently this time. I’ll tell you what those things are, shall I?
But first, a funny story….
Stop Debt Advertising On Kids TV
by Nicola Cairncross on June 22, 2005

One of my newsletter and Financial Intelligence discussion group subscribers, Karen Burge, emailed this to me to ask for my help. My kids sing the jingles and it definately promotes the idea that debt is good, if you can afford the repayments, no matter what the APR %, regardless of the impact on your finances. So I’m happy to help.

Debt adverts on childrens’ television channels, especially for secured loans, are a disgrace. The TV channels responsible should immediately stop showing them.
