THE RULE OF FIVE
"Even on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there."
–Will Rogers
In their book ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living Your Dreams’ (see the ‘Want to Learn More?’ section at the end of this tip to learn more), bestselling authors Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen share one of their secrets of success, which they call ‘The Rule of Five’:
*Every day, take at least five tangible actions towards the achievement of your most important goals.*
They go on to point out that they followed this ‘magic formula’ in reaching their goal of selling more than a million copies of …..

Podcasting: Internet Radio On Demand… and MORE!

If you haven’t heard the term "podcast" yet, you will.
It’s about to blow the world of online audio through the
roof as every Tom, Dick and Shirley can now operate a high
powered Internet Radio station providing on-demand audio
(and shortly, video) with nothing more than a microphone,
simple software, and a little imagination.
Just like cable TV in the 1980’s gave smaller networks and
individuals a voice on television, podcasting gives
individuals a voice (literally) through online audio.
Podcasting is actually the audio form of "blogging," where
individuals share their thoughts in writing over time on a
dynamic webpage known as a "blog."
With blogging, subscribers and other blog publishers
subscribe to and cross promote each other’s content by
linking to and writing about each other.
With podcasting, the author shares ………

As more companies make the jump to cyberspace every week and
billions of dollars flow across the Internet, nobody can
deny that ecommerce plays a significant roll in business
today.
However, as the aisles of your local online shopping site
get more crowded, the tendency for customer service issues
and contact to fall through the cracks increases
dramatically.
The main problem for any site revolves around the fact that
email as a means of communication has become …..
The David Bowie of the Hamster World

Meet Max, the David Bowie of the Hamster World. This is Max’s first foray into the real world outside the house and he’s understandably looking a little trepidatious. However, shortly after this he set off on a marathon journey across the grass, heading for the dark space under the shed. Phoebe watched over him lest a stray seagull decide that he might make a tasty morsel – and so he would! Note the little pawsies.
My Sunday

One of my ex-clients and now business partners Greg Southey of 3internet.com caught me online earlier and said "what are you doing working on a Sunday, and a sunny Sunday at that?"
I had to think for a moment then I realised that I treasure my Sundays. It’s the only day when I can do exactly what I want, like in the "olden days" before the kids came along.
So, in the interests of you’all thinking I have no "work/life balance" I thought I would share my ideal Sunday, which is pretty much what is happening today…….
The Seaside Landlady – RIP

I might be making a big mistake here but I’ve decided to kill off The Seaside Landlady. This was the very successful incarnation of my Wealth Coaching newsletter "Life, Love & The Diary of a Seaside Landlady".
With the imminent sale – outside the auction room – of The Acacia via Austin Gray (http://www.austingray.co.uk/) it seems an appropriate time.
I’m becoming more and more excited by the whole blogging/podcasting thing and the mammoth weekly task of writing ‘The Diary of…….’ was becoming more and more redundant.
You can view the archives at my website and I will treasure those memories of my travels (and travails) in Greece, Spain and Worthing for ever.
If you want to keep up to date with my antics – which have not diminished at all in scope and hilarity – then the best way to do that is to download this fr*ee desktop tool (known as an RSS Aggregator in the trade) from RSSReader, and add my blog to it as a favourite.
The URL to add my blog to your Reader is http://feeds.feedburner.com/WealthCoach-NicolaCairncross
It’s easy to do – even I figured it out without the help of Steve (who is sitting just in his shorts in the garden catching some rays and reading his book, right now – shall I try and sneak a pic on my phone?)
http://www.rssreader.com/download.htm
I just want to thank the 6000 odd readers of ‘The Diary of The Ex-Seaside Landlady’ over the last few years and I hope that you will become just as fond of my blog!

Brian Tracy’s Laws Of Business Success

The 19th of Brian Tracy’s 100 Immutable Laws of Business Success is the "Law of Persistence" which fits nicely with my post about Internet Success the other day.
He says that "Your ability to persist in the face of setbacks and disappointments is your measure of your belief in yourself and your ability to succeed".
He goes on to say that …
How To Trackback & Ping

I have just finished a little Camtasia video showing my clients how to insert excerpts from other people’s blogs into their blogs, with their own comments. Then they ping the other sites to let them know that they have done so, and an excerpt of their comments gets put on the other site.
There are three requirements for this to work:
FruitStock – a new kind of music festival
by Nicola Cairncross on June 18, 2005
in Money Gym | Diaries
From the Innocent Drinks people:
Six years ago, we sold our first ever smoothies from a stall at a music festival in London called Jazz on the Green. It was the first time we’d ever tried out our recipes on the public, before we’d ever sold anything in the shops, and we set up our stall with a big sign above it saying ‘Do you think we should give up our jobs to make these smoothies?’ Under the sign we put out two bins, one saying ‘YES’ and one saying ‘NO’.
By the end of the weekend the ‘YES’ bin was pretty full, so we went into work the next day and resigned. And here we are, still making smoothies.
Organising Fruitstock is our way of saying thank you to everyone who buys our drinks. It’s also a chance for us to spend the weekend in the park.
Fruitstock is now in its third year. In 2004, over 85 000 of you came along to say hello. If you’ve come before, we’d love to see you again. If you haven’t, why not pop along? All you have to do is turn up, lie on the grass, relax and bring some loose change for the nice people at our chosen charity CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids).
See you there
* we’ve asked very nicely
