Happiness

"Happiness is liking what you do, Freedom is doing what you like" said Rohan Weerasinghe at the last Ballard Shaw Passive Investments Open Day.
I’m delighted to say that as of this week, Steve and I are now officially Ballard Shaw Passive Investments investors – we got into the 100 who WILL be in the 1% when we retire. I already like what I do, and now I know that when we want to stop doing what we do, we will be doing what we like!
Which Credit Card & How’s Your Score?
by Nicola Cairncross on July 19, 2005
in Money Gym | Diaries
When I was at the last Ballard Shaw Passive Investments day recently Gill gave us two great websites to check out.
One was how to check out what your credit score is looking like at www.checkmyfile.com and then, when you get the info, you can see recommendations for cards to apply for with nice simple summaries of each. You can also use www.checkmyfile.com to keep you updated in any changes in your score or to get a more comprehensive report.
You can also go to www.ukcreditcardsonline.co.uk and they will recommend cards that will suit your circumstances.
Happy credit shopping……….oh! and don’t forget to only use your credit cards, not to buy doodads, but to invest in things that will a) appreciate not depreciate in value and b) put money in your pocket rather than take money out of your pocket.
If It Don’t Work, They Can’t Eat You

Some of you will know about my buying a half a million pound run down guesthouse "no money down" at the very start of my wealth creation journey. I then refurbed it, opened it and created something rather wonderful. It gave me business credibility which helped build my Money Gym coaching business, and it gave me somewhere to host my Money Gym workshops, and it brought a lot of wonderful people into my life.
But because of the financing, no matter what I did (and one year I increased turnover by 160% and profits by 90%) I just couldn’t make it work financially. And towards the end, it was keeping Steve Watson, the manager and now my business partner, and I from what we really wanted to do and what we are best at. Internet Marketing.
I have just spent a very pleasant few minutes reading Bob Parsons GoDaddy blog "Hot Points". He is an inspirational individual and very very funny. One of his articles have helped a lot to cheer me up about todays events….
How Do You Learn?

One of the things that held me back for years was that I didn’t know what my learning style was. Then I saw the picture that changed my financial life for ever. It’s in Colin Turner’s "Swimming With Pirahna’s Makes You Hungry" and I tell you, I read that book about four times before I got it.
I knew the key or the secret was in that book, I could just sense it, but it took four attempts before I stopped reading the words and looked at the pictures. Then I saw it ……..
The Theme This Week Is…

Whenever I have a coaching day with The Money Gym clients, I often find that a theme emerges – must be the Zeitgeist (spirit of the times) and proves the Synchronicity or Absolute Relativity of Everything to Everything Else theory.
This week’s them was "It isn’t working………………"
Never Give Up (But Always Be Ready To Change)

Bob Parson’s of GoDaddy.com has a fabulous blog called Hot Points – it’s very inspirational about building a business and he’s written a superb article called "Never Give Up (But Always Be Ready To Change: Turning $15,000 into $64 million & Kissing $64 million goodbye" – a fairly compelling title I think you will agree!
"Uncle Lou’s rule.
My Uncle Lou, who was in the construction business, once told me, “Show me a successful business person, and I’ll show you someone who has been on their ass a number of times.” What he meant, of course, is that most people who become successful do so only after failing several times. I certainly was not an exception to Uncle Lou’s rule.
The ability to hang on when things are tough is mentioned in every “how to succeed” book or article. Most notable of all is probably …
Wealth Creation Conferences Go Stratospheric
by Nicola Cairncross on July 14, 2005

I don’t know if you know, but we held the UK’s first Wealth Creation Conference in March 2005. Well over 50 people – delegates and speakers – gathered in a large room at the Holiday Inn Gatwick to share wealth creation techniques, learn and network together.
My mission was to educate, inform and point in the right direction, all those interested in developing income flows from what I call the Four Lanes of the Wealth Highway. Just to put the record straight, my mate Gill always talks about the Three Lanes but that is because she includes the Internet in the business lane, which is cool. Gill’s not big on "doing technology" herself but that’s fine because she’s got us! She knows it’s important.
Then I wanted to bolt on some crucial complementary topics that would further one’s wealth creation activities in the main lanes of property investing, stock market adventures, building a business to love and the internet, such as marketing, pr, paying it forward etc.
And it worked like a dream! But you wait till you see what we have in store for this Autumn.
