“Leadership v Management” by Chris Barrow

You may know that Chris Barrow was my business coach for over three years and helped me grow my coaching practice from “zero to hero” in that time! Here’s a great article that Chris has written for his dental clients that is transferable, in my opinion, to any business.

"The 9 characteristics of an effective dental leader" by Chris Barrow

The Dental Business School has worked with approximately 400 dental practices in the last 8 years and we have trained, consulted and coached them in the implementation of 8 key strategies to produce “more profit in less time”.

Quantative results are an average 25% increase in bottom line profits in 20% less working hours for the whole team (whilst maintaining clinical and customer care standards).

Qualitative results include happier principals, team members, patients, suppliers and maybe even bank managers!

Earlier this year I wrote an article on team-building in dental practice and shared with you 8 steps to create a “championship support team” – I now want to expand on this theme by looking at leadership as distinct from management – focused on the role of the principal but equally relevant to practice managers and for that matter, all team members.

“Self Esteem” by Pam Emery

I have an amazing ex- Money Gym client Pam Emery who is developing a great coaching programme for Women Leaders in Business and a really must-read ezine………..she has a real gift for writing and although she didn’t find it easy in the beginning she is really finding her stride now.

She has a lot on her plate at the moment so I don’t want to bully her into blogging (although she will have to come to it one day soon!) so I’m going to serialise her ezine on mine for a while!

Self Esteem

Strokes are a way in which very young chldren are given recognition and validation and can be physical, verbal or non-verbal; positive or negative. Eric Berne developed a whole new approach to psychotherapy which gave gre at importance to the impact of strokes on our sense of well being and even devised a "hierarchy" of strokes:
