Well, it’s official! I’m the Visa Wealth Coach

<p>Last week I was contacted by Charlotte McLeod from <a href=”http://www.eloquipr.co.uk/”>Eloqui PR</a> (lovely website) who wanted to know my views on credit cards among other things,&nbsp; We talked, and it turned out that they wanted me to become the Official Wealth Coach for Visa International’s new PR campaign.</p>

<p>I actually went to London on the train today, to meet them all, and a very strange experience it was in spite of my having lived and worked there for 12 years and then commuted from Worthing for 2 further years!</p>

<p>I never do that train thing – well, I rarely go into the center of London nowadays – and I usually drive if I do go, so it was a bit of a shock to the system.&nbsp; In Sussex we all just drive to each other’s houses or offices, get out, walk in.&nbsp; </p>

<p>It takes AGES to get anywhere in London – everything is so far apart – and even when you have a printed timetable that quite clearly shows a train at 1810, the ticket inspector looked at me like I was demented when I politely enquired where it was.&nbsp; &quot;An 1810 to Shoreham? No love, there’s no 1810 to Shoreham…..&quot; when I felt like shouting at him &quot;well it says there is on your bloomin’ website only today&quot; but what would it have achieved?</p>

<p>Do you know there are no routemaster buses now that you can just hop on and off, and you have to buy your ticket before you get on the bus now!&nbsp; And the whole train station thing&nbsp; – how horrible is that?&nbsp; Euuurgghhhhh!</p>

<p>I have to go several times over the next few months but luckily most of it will be done by email and phone.</p>

<p>If it wasn’t such a great project I wouldn’t even be thinking about it, but the people are fun and the pr opportunies abundant so I’ll force myself out of my &quot;grockledom&quot; and enjoy it.&nbsp; </p>

<p>You never know, with my new diet (yes, I did go for it) I might even enjoy some shopping soon!</p>

<p>I had a lovely time drinking Green Tea and sparkly water with Judith in Starbucks, while waiting for said train, anyway.</p>

One Woman’s Story

Judith says:

Some of you will know that before I sold my accountancy business successfully in 1997, I did suffer with my ill educated and poorly motivated property investments and when interest rates went sky-high in the late Eighties, this eventually led to me losing my two homes in 1992 and being left with over £300,000 worth of debts.   I entered into an IVA which failed and that is supposed to mean mandatory bankruptcy and by some bizarre quirk of events, I escaped that fate.   It might have been better for me if I had been bankrupted in some respects because my debts would have been over within three years, but no-one wants a bankrupt accountant, so I fought on.

A lot of the debts were written off, but I was pursued by one of the mortgage companies for a shortfall of £60k plus interest accruing all the time until I settled with them eventually some eleven or twelve years later.   I hid from this creditor for most of the first decade.   What a waste of time that was.   If I had faced up to my failures sooner, I could have set myself back on the road to wealth creation in my 30s and 40s, without the need to wait until my 50s to start over.

The PR Machine rolls on…

Paula Gardner is doing an AMAZING job of our PR with her team of pr gurus.  This week she fixed up a double page spread in Woman & Home magazine and then on Tuesday, I got a call from the PR company for a major credit card company.  They want to create a whole lifestyle section on their website and wanted to know what my views on credit cards were, as they were looking for a Wealth Coach and had checked me out and liked what they saw.

It’s a major PR campaign, running from March to September, and as well as being national, on TV, in the papers and magazines, there will be links from their website to ours – marvellous.  Even better, they are willing to pay for our time which is only fair, as it will be quite a commitment by the sound of it.

How exciting!

<p>One of the highlights of the excellent Alan Forrest-Smith and Tim Warnock &quot;Direct Marketing Masterclass&quot; (<a href=”http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?Clk=1242111″>get the DVD’s here &gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;)</a> was the bonus day with Mike Stewart, &quot;The Internet Audio &amp; Video Guy&quot;.</p>

<p>I first met Mike at the World Internet Summit in October 2004 (organised by Alan) and again when I spoke at the World Internet Summit May 2005, with the likes of Armand Morin, Stephen Pierce, Brett McFall, Ted Ciuba and Tom Hua (now that was exciting!).</p>

<p>Mike is one of life’s most genuine nice guys and he REALLY gets you going about the multimedia potential of the web.</p>

<p>So, in spite of never having even owned a camcorder before, I bought the package, and got to work.&nbsp; The first thing I managed to do was record some testimonials from a <a href=”http://www.themoneygym.com”>Money Gym</a> workshop we were doing that week – no mean feat as Steve (who usually does all the techie stuff for me now) wasn’t there.&nbsp; </p>

<p>Then Steve managed to get the testimonials off the camcorder – talk about learning this stuff on a &quot;need to know&quot; basis!&nbsp; and then we managed to get one of them, by Stewart Alexander, onto the web (<a href=”http://wealthcoach.typepad.com/nicola_cairncross_wealth_/2006/02/new_toys.html”>see it here &gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;</a>).</p>

<p>Then I spent the day working out how to make a little infomercial about the Automated Marketing Machine Home Study System and that worked great.&nbsp; <a href=”http://wealthcoach.typepad.com/nicola_cairncross_wealth_/2006/02/what_has_nicola.html”>You can see that one here &gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;</a></p>

<p>Now my next job is to start making videos of all the material I have already, particularly the Financial Intelligence 101 and the Top 10 Tips for Websites That Work.&nbsp; </p>

<p>And get them on Google. </p>
