Annie says:
The thing about limiting beliefs is that once you are on the lookout for them, you’ll see that they turn up everywhere. So it was that I listened to a fascinating property-inspired conversation that took place between a close relative and an Old Friend of the Family, at a family wedding.
Admittedly this was no ordinary family wedding, but one where gender stereotypes RULED, big time. The men sat with the men for the service, danced with the men – truly – and, by and large talked with the men. (The women did much the same.)

BT Business is working in association with Growing Business magazine to uncover 20 incredible entrepreneurs who are carving out a place in an ever-changing world and taking a stranglehold on their market. We are looking for those businesses that separate the great from the good. Whether you are a building firm in the Cotswolds; an accountancy firm working off a yacht; a dress designer in Portebello Road market; or an artist working on the Highlands of Scotland – we want to hear from you. With technology constantly driving business change and the economic landscape changing beyond all recognition in the past decade, only the most innovative will survive. Does that sound like you? We could be identifying you as one of our 20 companies to be shot by world famous photographer Perou, who has taken among the most memorable shots of modern- day icons David Beckham, U2 and Coldplay. If you are short-listed….
Nicola’s Diet Update
by Nicola Cairncross on March 25, 2006

Just thought I would update you all on my diet – particularly the people who have been predicting that I will die in my bed of some horrible fit………..sorry guys, you have your facts wrong.
Myth No 1: Very Low Calorie Diets are dangerous
(Why do they use them as the preferred treatment for gross obesity in hospital then?)
Myth No 2: You put all the weight back on afterwards
(yes, you will, if you go back to eating like a fat person)
Myth No 3: Your metabolism get’s screwed up for ever
(wrong, your metabolism drops a bit – to that of a slim person – and then stabilises)
Anyway, 7 weeks in……find out how I and the rest of the group are getting on here >>..

So How’s The Diet Going 7 Weeks In?

<p><span style=”font-size: 0.8em;”>Diet update!</span></p>
<p><span style=”font-size: 0.8em;”>Seven weeks in and I’ve lost well over two stone. Actually, it’s nearer three on my scales; first thing in the morning, with dry hair and no clothes on. On one leg.</span></p>
<p><span style=”font-size: 0.8em;”>I still feel just FANTASTIC. The diet is easy, incredibly uncomplicated, I’m sleeping really well (and waking up much more easily) and I have bags of energy.</span></p>
<p><span style=”font-size: 0.8em;”>Six whole weeks without a glass of wine – SIX WHOLE WEEKS! I treat myself to sparkling water in the evenings for a change – Steve’s buying me Pelligrino as it’s the Rolls Royce of sparkling water apparently! And I’m getting through the green tea (organic from M&S) like there is no tomorrow.</span></p>
<p><span style=”font-size: 0.8em;”>I’m still enjoying the group work, particularly the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy bits and as for shopping, I have discovered a whole new lease of life…… but it’s not all a bed of roses…..</span></p>

So How’s It Going On The Weight Front, You May Ask!

Nicola says:
Well, you might be wondering how it’s going………did I ever decide to go on that diet?
I thought about it long and hard, wavering back and forth.
O you just wouldn’t believe the thoughts that my VERY creative brain came up with to put me off. I might share some of the madder ones some day, but they included:
Which first? Why Not Both Together?!!

Nicola has asked me to keep you updated with the wonders of the stock market.
And to keep it simple.
Well, that is my middle name! You see, I reckon that the stock market is probably the most misunderstood of all the Pillars of Wealth.
Why?
Because reporting that the stock market is going up just isn’t news, whereas the stock market going down and people losing money – now that sells newspapers. Fear and misery is what average Jo Public wants.
But not us. And if you are reading this then you don’t either. We want to know the truth. We want to know how to make money. And so, dear reader, we will explore the stock market together and slowly and surely we are going to make money.
That’s it this time around but next time I am going to report on why the stock market is as good and sometimes better than other ways of creating wealth. Sometimes people ask me, should I buy property or invest in stocks, and my answer is invariably, "Both!, just decide which one first …" You see, it is not a question of either or, but a question of which one fits into your current lifestyle at this moment in time. The aim is to do all and as many of the different highways of wealth.
More on that next time. Nicola and I may even be able to offer you some free seminars on the stock market, but that is another time, so until then,
Invest with passion … and profit

You Know You Want To….But Will You?

Margaret says:
I’ve learned so much since becoming part of the wider Money Gym team, some of it specifically relating to wealth, much relating to life in general. Perhaps, as always the most interesting lessons are about human nature itself.
Now we’re all different (and if that’s a lesson you’ve not learned yet, come on, you’ve some catching up to do!). Some people are motivated to do things quite spontaneously, for the love of it, the adventure, for the fame… others will move mountains for their family, their friends, for someone else… Pretty much all of us will scale Everest to avoid pain.
But what will you do for wealth or financial freedom?
For most people, pain of debt is a pretty powerful motivator. When we’re up against it and finally realise that our outgoings are more than our income we can begin to take some pretty focussed action to get out of that hole!
But what happens when we reach the stage that we’re comfortable?
