Ezine Survey Results – Early Days

Nicola says:

Yesterday I had had enough of all the uncertainty about what to do with our ezine.

Recently re-branded from "Life, Love & The Diary Of…….." to "Wealth Strategy Secrets", stripped of all it’s ads (something that gave me a bit of a heart attack!) and looking really good, Sarah (the new editor) and I were still um’ing and ah’ing about broadcast format.

Several of our clients were interested in how best to send theirs out too, so I bit the bullet and did a survey.

It’s early days yet, but the numbers who have responded to the survey now outdo the numbers who read the ezine (according to the statistics in my shopping cart), so it’s getting pretty representative.

So far…..

First question:  Do you read the ezine?

51% say yes, while 49% say no.

Second question:  Do you like the new format?

67% say yes, 32% say no  (good news Sarah)

Third question:  Do you prefer text only, HTML or text with link to HTML online

69% prefer it to come in as HTML (looking like a magazine with pics and links)

12% prefer text only

18% prefer text only with links

Fourth Question:  How Do You Feel About Ads In Ezines?

No, Hate Loads Of Ads – 41%

Like To Know What’s On Offer – 15%

Don’t Mind Them – 43%

Other Feedback:

"Too much diary stuff for me and I found last two links in Sept 22nd issue a bit confusing. At busy times, I’m not excited enough any more to take a look – I don’t get a sense of learning anything new anymore. As a marketer I love the potential of the internet – but I’m not turned on by the technical nuts and bolts. I’d love to read more case study type material though – and not just testimonial snippets but real examples of what your wealth clients are doing and achieving – bring on the inspiration!"

"My perception is that I get too many from you so I tend not to read any of them as that’s easier than picking and choosing. NB: I never read ezines that can only be accessed after clicking a link in an email"

"Main issue is the additional barrage of e-maisl promoting 3rd party products. I realise this is part of on line wealth creation BUT I subscribed to read your thoughts and ideas rather than have you use your credibility to sell me 3rd party products. I haev considered unsibscribing for this reason as you are often not sure is this a newsletter e-mail or a promotional e-mail. The former I want to read the latter I do not. Now you may be wondering at this point am I the type of person that is matched to your business. I will let you decide but from a standing start 8 years ago I haev abusiness with nearly a 1M turnover and 3 investement proerties…. not perfect but getting there"

"You do a fantastic job. I am constantly amazed at your ability to adapt and improve"

"I receive too many emails from you to be able to keep up and so end up reading none………….But, I do appreciate you all the same"

"The constant email bombardment puts time pressure on me so I tend not to use links very often. If the email is the ezine itself I am more likely to read it, or at least save it in the hope that I might read it later"

"….I have noticed an enormous increase in emails into my inbox in recent months. It seems that many people are sending out multiple emails daily rather than one or two weekly or monthly, which was the case when I initially signed up to their ezine etc…..Another thing I have found annoying (but have no bright solution for) is that I am frequently mailed with ’special’ or ‘exclusive’ offers because I am one of only a few selected – trouble is that I receive it from 10 different people. I think with the explosion in internet marketing subscribers may just be getting weary of the avalanche"

Conclusions / Actions?

1.  Send out the new style ad-free ezine in both text and HTML format (with a link at the top to read online, for those who can only receive text only but like to read in HTML).  Covers all bases.

2.  Ask people to "opt in" to one of three "Cutting Edge" lists (one for wealth creation, one for internet marketing and one for "work at home", where they get to hear about everything that is going on as it happens, but the main part of each list just gets the ezine.  There should be links to the "cutting edge" lists in the main ezine.

Make Up Your Mind Right Now!

"When you are drawing from the Infinite,
you can never take more than your share.

Abundance is your birthright,
but understand this…..
You will NEVER attract into your life
something that is not in harmony with you.

And so
if you want more….
greater wealth, greater health, more meaningful relationships
make up your mind RIGHT NOW
that you are going to build the image of what you want.

You’re going to hold onto that image ……
and you’re going to stay in that vibration.

This entire universe is an orderly universe – energy attracts like energy.

Understand that the good that you want is already here
all you have to do is to get in harmony with it
and you do that through your own thinking……

…..build the image of the world you want to live in
change your habitual way of thinking
and when you do that…

You will change your world"

Would You Help Us With Our Ezine Survey?

Nicola says:

As someone who is hanging out online regularly, you may know that the Sp*am laws were recently tightened up considerably (a good thing in my view)

To ensure that they comply with the new laws, many of our ezine distribution companies are asking us to ensure that new subscribers to our ezines "double opt in" and again, that’s a good thing, in my view.

What’s not so good is that our official ezine readership seems to have plummeted!

How do I know?

Well, I broadcast my ezine to over 10,000 people, spread over three lists.  My "wea*lth creation" list is the biggest of all at over 6500 people.

It’s a well establised list, started in 1999 and whenever I go out, networking or speaking, many people come up to me and tell me how much they enjoy reading my ezine.

It’s a very responsive list;  whenever I launch a new product or recommend something that I rate highly, a good proportion of people "know, like and trust" me enough to buy.

However, just lately, when I look at my ezine readership statistics in my shopping cart, I see that there appear to be only A FEW HUNDRED people actually reading my ezine instead of 6500 !

Now, we have tried various things;  swapping from an HTML ezine (looks like a magazine and arrived in your inbox just like that) to text only.

I hate text only ezines and much prefer to read an HTML ezine myself, but many folks have their Outlook or Outlook express to read text only.  And many folks reading at work are only allowed to read it in text.

So we tried sending out text only notifications that the ezine is ready to read online.

Pathetic numbers.

Is it me (am I getting really boring?), is it the ezine format or are the statistics just plain wrong?!!

So I thought "well, I bet there are a load of ezine editors out there who must be experiencing the same problems and I bet they would want to know the answer too!"

So,if you help me and complete a very quick survey, I’ll share the results so that we can all benefit from the answers.

Is that a deal?

It’s totally anonymous and there’s even a box for you to give me brutally honest feedback in addition to my questions.

I look forward to reading your answers!

Nicola’s Been Busy!

Saturday, dinner with my oldest bestest mate Kim at the eternal favourite the Crown & Anchor run by the lovely Matt. He was wearing his finest mufti rather than his “pub gear” so looked pretty cool. We were joined by two guys who Kim accidentally got to know last week and I was initially very unkeen. We were at a large table though so could hardly say no. They turned out OK with one having been the Head Chef at the Grand Hotel at the time of the bombing, so he had a few stories to tell.

Sunday, I went to London to speak for Marcus De Maria’s Wealth Workout Weekend. I arrived in time to see Greg Ballard doing his slot on Property Investing and it was one of his best presentations yet. He’s got such a knack of putting over complex concepts very simply, powerfully and in such a funny way. I really enjoyed seeing Kelly, Mudrika, Paula and Stuart MacArthur and Caroline Newman again. Marcus is a fine speaker too – knows his stuff, authentic, funny and very quick.

Then onto the City, to have dinner in Pizza Express Liverpool St, with some Ecademy BlackStars, including the President (get me!) William Buist, Judith Germain, Richard J White, Robert Quaranda and Christine Clacey. What a fun evening that was – Judith told me it would be lively. Robert is about to launch…

Your Greatest Gift

Nicola says:

I would like to talk a little bit today about another great asset you have.

You.

Your soul if you like, your spirit, the essence of you. While your mind will enable you to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again, even if you lose everything, it is your spirit, your soul, your you-ness will make you want to do so.

At school we all pick up that we should fit in, not stand out from the crowd, to be normal; it’s a very powerful cultural force. In stone-age days it was a protective mechanism but nowadays it is very limiting and, if you are serious about becoming financially abundant, it’s positively dangerous.

Many of my clients experience great resistance and negativity when they start to work with me – often from the people that love them the most – parents, spouses, siblings, best friends. Often it is people who are better off than you (but who don’t know how they did it!) that will caution you the loudest.

You will need to…

Is divorce an effective wealth creation strategy?

Margaret says:

I was impressed last month to hear a news article announcing that the number of millionaires was set to increase.

The number of millionaires in Britain currently stands at 376,000, is set to climb to 690,000 by 2010 and will grow by more than four-fold to 1.7 million people by 2020.

Pretty impressive figures. Are you planning to be in the 2010 or the 2020 cohort?

I was particularly encouraged to hear that the number of women in the millionaire group was set to rise so that women are predicted to make up 53%, over half of the group. Great I thought, someone’s finally spotted us! Slightly less flattering was the strategy attributed to this rapid increase in wealthy women.
