Whichever way you turn there’s plenty of news to be had, good, bad or indifferent. Must be something about getting closer to 50 that suddenly makes me notice anything in the news that mentions retirement, pensions or both.

Several stories caught my eye today. I was surprised to learn that it is termed "news" that more than half of today’s home owners consider that their property is a major asset that will support them in their retirement. I mean, doh!!!!!

As many of you may know, I have a great little business called The Cleaning Biz and we take in people who want to start and run their own little business locally. When I say little I mean turning over about £50-60k per annum, most of which is profit in due course.

Last January we took in nine such people who I wanted to help run their own little business, some worked extremely well, one told me yesterday she already has fifty clients which means that her monthly income is about £1600 - and this same woman has just spent a couple of days working away from home during which she wasn’t pestered by her business at all, so quite a lot of that income can be regarded as passive.

Reading time - 4 minutes 34 seconds - Benefit time the rest of your life

In May last year the first people - many of them Nicola Cairncross’ friends, family and clients and her Money Gym clients - began purchasing our service.

Nicola had spotted the fact that many people simply don’t have time to build a property portfolio for themselves, in the same way that they don’t have time to build an internet empire for themselves. 

They don’t have the time and they don’t have the real in-depth knowledge, skills and contacts.

The big challenge was that, in the early days, all we had as proof of how effective our service was, was what we had done for ourselves.

However, that was good enough for our friends and family to ask us to do it for them, and then it was good enough for Nicola to be able to recommend us.

Things are very different now……..

As each week goes by now, we have at least another client completing the first of their five purchases, providing the proof of just how effective our system is. But what is more important, is how effective the system is for our clients.

It almost goes without saying that we make money each time we buy WITHOUT FAIL!

But what must be said is that, on the first purchase alone, in nearly all cases, we have made for our clients in cash and equity, virtually all their money back!

This makes the cost of our service to them nothing other than Cashflow. And to the rest, well to those fortunate few we have actually made them more than the cost of the service on the first purchase!

Yes, you did hear that right, the other four properties are just pure profit makers, as our service is free to them, and will be free to every client after the second purchase. How many other investments that people make can do that, let alone without the client having to get involved!

I once read in a book called ‘Think & Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill, that if
you can just find a way to serve many more people, you will create an almost
effortless flow of money and were almost certain to become more wealthy.

Many people have heard of network marketing, and it’s evil twin, pyramid
selling, and this method of moving product (or not, in the case of pyramid
selling) marries the concept of serving many people with the concept of building
a distribution network of other people, all working for themselves but you being
able to benefit from their efforts.

So you find three people, who find three people each, who find another three
people, etc., with each new level expanding dramatically (draw it out on a piece
of paper).

The fundamental principles are sound and there are many ethical and
successful network marketing companies out there (Avon, Amway, Nuways, et al).

The argument most people come up with, to prove that it doesn’t work, is that
by the time you get to level 6, there are not enough folk left in the world.
True enough, but many of the people in the network don’t do anything so that
saturation point just wouldn’t happen. And there are more people being born than
dying…….yada, yada, yada. Always people keen to prove why things don’t work
rather than spending the time finding something that does.

I digress.

Those words about serving more folk struck me as important then and have

So what are the Entrepreneurial Traps?

Joseph Jaworsky ("Synchronicity - The Inner Path of Leadership") talks about a book called "The Hero With A Thousand Faces" by Joseph
Campbell, where Campbell talks about the heroic quest or journey, describing the
changes that people and organisations alike can go through.

The picture begins
with the "wasteland", the inauthentic life where nothing feels good, everything
feels empty; before you receive the "call to adventure", to become what we are
meant to become, to achieve our "vital design".

It may take years and we may
ignore it for a long time, but if we hear and respond to the call we cross the
threshold and begin the journey, into the unknown. This is when the "predicable
miracles" start to occur, like unseen helping hands. This is the point at which
our freedom and destiny merge, where we encounter a series of traps, trials,
tests and "ordeals".

These traps, trials, tests and ordeals test our commitment to the direction
we have taken and they provide opportunities to learn from failure. This is
probably the most useful part of the journey as it teaches us different ways to
think. Remember in "Conversations With Millionaires" where they say that the
best reason to decide to become a millionaire is because of what you will learn
along the way?

The traps along the way can cause you to regress to your old ways of thinking
and acting. They hinder the process of your becoming part of the unfolding of
the universe and it’s abundance, and we fall into those traps principally when
the stakes are really high, when lots is happening, things going beautifully and
a lot of money is involved. When we fall into a trap, Jaworsky says, a vicious
circle can begin to operate and things go from bad to worse very quickly. But if
we are aware of our traps and remain alert to their danger, we can largely avoid
their consequences.
