Deadly Reason #1: Lone Ranger Mentality

Most people think that the only way to earn a living is to have a job. Not so. Most of the world’s wealth has been created by business people (apart from those into property and land). Even if you have a great job, there are so many great reasons to start a business alongside your job, not least of which the tax benefits, that you really should consider it.

However, when most people think of a business, they think of becoming what we would call "self employed". This is not a business, this is swapping a job with benefits and resources, for a job with none, and what is worse, where the boss is a nutter!

They try and do everything themselves, even if the roles and tasks don’t fit their strengths, skills and personality. They don’t plan to outsource and they don’t budget for that. They don’t even know how to find people to outsource to….or who to choose.

12 Deadly Reasons: Introduction

I’m guessing that, because you are reading this, you are interested in improving your finances.

Drastically!

I’m also guessing that you are pretty interested in finding out why you are not getting there as quickly as you perhaps would like…..am I right?

Why is that then?

I believe that it’s because, not only don’t we know what we don’t know, but more importantly, we don’t know what doesn’t work! So most of us just keep doing what doesn’t work, rather than doing what does work. After all, you only know what works…… when it works; discovering what doesn’t work is a long, slow painful process.

I’m a very positive person normally. I have my down moments like anyone else, but generally speaking I believe that….

12 Deadly Reasons Why You Won’t Get Rich In Your Lifetime

In preperation for the launch of our new membership site, http://www.TheMoneyGymClub.com on 1 June 2007, I’ve been looking through all the masses of wealth creation material on my computer and deciding what’s good, what works, and what’s absolutely crucial to upload to the new site.

There is so MUCH material about how to succeed in the Four Lanes of The Wealth Highway, and I’ve shared so much over the years, and so MANY people have made so much money from being involved with The Money Gym….that I got to wondering why there are still people in our community who haven’t yet ‘made it’.

It got me thinking about WHY it’s still so far off for some…and this led me to wondering if it’s possible to identify the one key reason, in each of the lanes of the Wealth Highway, why folks don’t succeed.

Well! I opened a floodgate there and I was able to identify not one key reason, but THREE key – and very deadly – reasons in each Lane, why most people will not get ri*ch in their lifetime.

So, for the first time ever, I’m going to be sharing ….

‘12 Deadly Reasons Why You Won’t Get Ri*ch In Your Lifetime’

I’m going to be serialising, over the next few days, this explosive report.

It’s straight talking, it’s direct and it will throw light in those dark corners of your finances. Please feel free to share this information with your friends and family – especially the one’s that are struggling with money.

Watch your inbox over the next few days…..but if you just can’t wait to get the serialised version, all you have to do is come along to our new site, at

http://www.TheMoneyGymClub.com

and register for free, to get the link to this report in full. You will see the link to the report on the ‘Members Welcome’ page.

And, if you are brave enough to go there, and read or download this report, there’s a special link at the bottom of every single page, for you, my loyal blog readers, that will give you the earliest possible options to join The Money Gym at the various levels, and enjoy some ridiculous discounts – for life!

I hope you enjoy the report and even more importantly, identify your single Deadly Reason for not becoming as wealthy as you would like, just yet.

Till tomorrow….

Warm regards

Gold Members and Hair Irons

by Nicola Cairncross

time flies byI honestly can’t believe that another week has gone by – it’s been so quick, the last 7 days!

Most of my time has been taken up with fine tuning the new membership site, as it’s now live, working and with most of the initial content in it.  We are about a week behind my initial technical schedule in terms of launch date, but actually ahead of the schedule in terms of content uploading…..

I’ve decided to make the new official launch date Friday 1st June with the two weeks prior to that for the Earliest Birds on our mailing list, who will secure membership at £7.95 a month for life, and the Early Birds who will secure Silver membership for £17.95 a month for life.

We have moved over all the existing Platinum members, and emailed all the previous Platinums and Silvers with special promotional codes, so that they can enjoy participating in the new site.  The affiliate scheme is now up and running and all new members (free upwards) will automatically be made affiliates, able to earn commission for recommending us.

The downloadable materials (articles, PDF worksheets, audio and video) are all there, the ezine archives, and the Internet Marketing, Home Study Course.  The forums are all ready, and set up around Wealth Creation in general (like Success Thinking), plus the Four Lanes of the Wealth Highway; Property, Business, Internet and the Stockmarket, with sub-forums for more specialist parts of each Lane.

Our ultimate targets are 24 Platinum members at any one time, 100 Gold members and 1000 Silver members.  We may have to revise those slightly to take into account revenue targets, and affiliate commissions (£10 per month for Silver to £50 a month for Gold & Platinum members).  We have tried to do some estimates but have concluded that we are just “holding a finger up in the wind” as, while we know our traffic figures via Google Analytics, and will know our traffic figures to the new site, we have no idea really how many people get our emails, how many read them and what our conversions and retentions will be.

I feel weekly statistics reporting coming on….

This week I’ve also been reading the wonderful comments on…

Business ain’t supposed to be easy… or is it?!

by Nicola Cairncross

Business can be easyThe “Note From Nicola” last week about the tribulations of being in business, sparked off the most comments EVER on the blog….. and they were all very supportive which was lovely!!

Among many others, Cally commented:

Hi Nicola, Thank you, profoundly, once again. For being real and fallible, as well as clever, kind, sassy, aware, funny, helpful, caring, courageous, sharp, feminine yet no silliness, smart, inspirational, accurate, straight, warm, open and one of our TOWERING SPIRITS here to guide us all. I’ve just had a peculiarly draining two weeks too – when doubt and small thinking seem to have overtaken my courage and capacity. So maybe there IS something in the air. You’ve reminded me that it ain’t supposed to be easy. And that to face the challenge, the first thing i must do is set aside the big club i’m bashing myself with, AND BE KIND TO MYSELF. Here’s to allowing all things to come to pass, just as they should. xxx Cally"

While enjoying Cally’s support, her comment “you’ve reminded me that it ain’t supposed to be easy” jumped out at me, as actually that isn’t what I was trying to get across.  Actually, it IS supposed to be easy, and the reasons it hasn’t been so recently, for me, is because I had not known enough originally to set it up to be so.

Judith Morgan, my business partner in The Money Gym, is a passionate advocate of building a “business to love” and so she was the logical first stop-off when seeking to share with you how to build a business not only to love, but which loves you back!

Nicola says:

Judith, first of all, can you share some of your reactions when reading the blog and comments last week?  And then tell us why so many business  people, in your opinion, make things so hard for themselves?

Judith replies:

Hi Nicola

Obviously, the overwhelmingly supportive response to your writing last week is very encouraging for all of us, for The Money Gym, our clients and readers.   And how interesting that this topic should bring so many wonderful and personal testimonials for our work.   Well done!

Listening to the very interesting call we shared last week with The Money Gym wider community, you asked me this question then too, and I stand by what I say.   There are lots and lots of different reasons why we make things so hard for ourselves, and you cover many of these in your beliefs, behaviours and attitudes work in your book and Wealth Tips 101 materials.   The first four which come to mind for me are:

How To Get Started With Stocks & Shares

Nicola says:

There has been a really interesting thread running on our Money Gym Platinum Members forum and thought it would be of interest to those of you thinking of dabbling your toes in stocks and shares.

Stephanie Hale wrote:

Stephanie HaleGreat to meet you all at The Money Gym workshop and sorry indeed to miss the second day.  There was a nice surprise waiting for me when I arrived home in the form of £500 profits from the day’s trading. Not bad considering I was in London all day!

Poppy wrote:

Hi Stephanie, I hear that you have discussed your share dealing skills on The Money Gym Silver Members forum before but I missed that treat.  I am really interested to learn about stocks & shares.  How on earth did you get started?

Stephanie replied:

Hi Poppy,
I dipped my toes in the water last summer and quickly got hooked.  Since then I’ve done more courses and read more books than I have fingers and toes! Bl*ody hard work but it’s well worth it for the long-term rewards.

To get started, I’d recommend…

Working To Your Strengths

Sam asked:

order Working To Your StrengthsI know this sounds very cheeky but I am really unsure of the paths that I wish  to take in business and how to get there. So if it is possible I was wondering if perhaps you had any work that I would be able to do for you and, if not, do you know of anybody who could employ me on a full term basis?  I can send you a copy of my C.V or any thing else you require. It would be great to have something lined up for when I leave college so i can go straight into work. Yours sincerely Sam

Nicola says:

Dear Sam

First of all, well done for having the guts to write to me and thanks for thinking of us.    I think that you saw me speak at a University recently to some potential marketing students and I’m thrilled that I made enough impact that you might write to me.

I’m going to do you the courtesy of being completely direct with you and I hope that you will take my comments in the spirit in which they are meant.  I want to be honest, positive and encouraging.

I’m also going to include your question (without your surname) in my ezine, because I think you have highlighted a really important issue that anyone of your age, or any parents with young adults, needs to consider and I want to share it.

First of all you need to clarify the biggest question of all…

Are you running an Authentic Business?

Nicola says:

CHRIS BARROW’s CALL FOR AUTHENTICITY IN BUSINESS

I’ve spent most of yesterday morning holding back tears, and those who know me well know that this is a very unusual occurrence (unless I’ve had several glasses of Chablis when I can get a bit pathetic and sentimental).

What set me off? Chris Barrow’s ezine. It struck a very deep chord with me as I have been wrestling with issues around the kind of challenges he’s facing, for a while now. You can read the whole ezine online here but here are some highlights of his post, followed by my own thoughts.

Chris says:

Chriss Barrow“I want to draw your particular attention to an article (that you can read on line here) called "The See-Through CEO". The author discusses the experience of American business owners who have taken to blogging authentically – and I mean that there is no "spin" – if the company is struggling or things are not working out – the CEO explains what is happening and what is being done about it. Needless to say – in a world of "spin" (a term created, I believe, here in the UK by our current Prime Minister’s advisors) and bullsh*t – authenticity is a novelty that can delight customers.

Now (I have) always had a reputation for authenticity – as a UK dental coach the clients and attendees at workshops are well aware of that. In the USA and Canada I know that my authentic style has been greeted with gasps of astonishment, in cultures which, to varying degrees, have institutionalised insincere positives. It has also had me in trouble with my support team – who have warned me that sometimes my musings on "leading a life of quiet desperation" may have damaged our image.

And yet we know that every time I wear my heart on my sleeve or my pants round my ankles (metaphor, of course) the reader numbers go up, the hits on the web site and blog peak and I get more responses than at any other time. Maybe that’s just people are writing in to tell me I shouldn’t do it?

I dunno.

But I’ve been reminded recently of the internal benefits of authenticity.

Last week I wrote an email to 3 of my best male mates – one is a client, one is a co-coach and one is my own personal coach – and this is an extract of what I said: "I need a bit of help and I’m asking my three best bloke mates…….Read the whole ezine online here

He ends his post with …..

“My message is a plea for more authenticity in business. I like the idea of being a "See-Through CEO" – and I like to see more of my clients become "See-Through" with their teams.

NICOLA’S AUTHENTIC SEE THROUGH THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK

** WARNING ** Don’t read if you don’t like the truth or feel that people shouldn’t say what’s not working, as well as what is. DO NOT bloomin’ well email me if your response is negative or you think I’m whinging! It’s all true and sometimes quite a bit tongue in cheek! I’m going to have a totally honest rant, then tell you how I deal with feeling down, then tell you what I’ve learned from it **

I went to bed at 8pm last night as I couldn’t carry on for one minute longer, in spite of being the thinnest, best off, most sober, happiest in my house, least debt laden, and most excited about my professional future I’ve ever been.

Actually the thinnest and most sober was part of the problem, because I had nowhere to hide from, nothing to medicate pain with with, nothing to “treat” myself with, to make up for the final cutting straw which landed Wednesday pm ….and which I won’t go into.

My fight has been knocked out of me this week a bit.

I’ve had a very abusive comment….
