Top Five Web Resources

Judithmorgan Another round of blog-tag and this time Judith Morgan has thrown a wonderful treasure my way. She asked "What are the five top web resources that you use?"

Now normally I find this sort of thing very tedious even though I know it’s for SEO but I think I can come up with five great resources for you quickly and easily.  Finding five people to tag, now, that’s more of a challenge – aha!  I’ll just tag some mates and Money Gym clients!

Anyway, here’s the rules:

  1. MUST be clean. No R rated sites (do we call that X-rated in the UK?)
  2. Only FIVE links.
  3. MUST tell 5 people.
  4. A link back to the person who tagged you
  5. Lara’s place is the meme originator

Here are the five web resources I use most:

1.  www.HipCast.com – easy podcasting software, publishes to your Typepad blog, sends it out to the podcast directories and publishes to your iTunes account too!
2.  Instant TeleSeminar/Webinar – easy peasy tele-seminar/webinar software with a 200 person line, you can drop the code in your own pages to customise the look and feel, use it all the time
3.  Total Business Cart – I love it, I use it, I’ve used it since 1999, I couldn’t be without it
4. Submit Your Article – this is amazing software that not only submits your article to hundreds of sites (and I see the Google Alerts coming in so I know it does it!) but it enables you to customise your article quickly and easily to create endless unique variations of that article.
5. Typepad blogs – still the best!  Love those widgets and you can make your own website using them now!

Who should I play tag with?!

OK Sarah Cairncross, you should be blogging more anyway now you are on the 30DayChallenge! Claire Westwood of Happy Nurses, Sarah Rourke, just started blogging about her bid to escape the Rat Race, Marie Taylor who blogs really well about corporate coaching, and Mark Forster, Time Management Guru, there you go!  Now to break the happy news to them…..

Do tell us your top five web resources!

Nicola

This Guy Is Almost As Good As Rich!

I accidentally came across a new business guru, Eban Pagan, whose content seems pretty sound. I’ve been resisting his emails because I’m trying to say focused on Rich Shefren’s materials but I "accidentally" watched Eban’s stuff today while drinking coffee and reading emails in bed (the kids have departed for Egypt so why not?)

Make sure to watch all three short videos – it’s solid stuff along the 4-Hour Workweek theme and I got a brilliant nugget from it that I put into action immediately.

His website is www.GetAltitude.com – tell him I sent you (nothing in it for me but I like to know where our subscribers come from…..)

P.S. he’s the man behind "DoubleYourDating.com, apparently, however, rubbish as I am at maths, even I know that 2 x zero is still zero!

Wealth Creation On A Beermat

Mike Southon, of Beermat Entrepreneur fame, has a new membership site for entrepreneurs www.Beermat.biz and he sends out a great ezine and podcast.  In the latest issue he’s asking for short contributions (around 800 words) from other Beermat members, on all sorts of topics…..I feel a book coming on!  (Of course, I would also like to point out that Judith Morgan, my partner in The Money Gym has a great website for entrepreneurs too, at www.LonelyEntrepreneur.com which is free to join for the first 1000 Founder members – get over there now!)

The concept was interesting though, because while I can do "wealth creation on a beermat", and have – see my lovely pic below – I do feel that becoming a millionaire, even a billionaire, is simple, it’s not easy.  And here’s why…..

WEALTH CREATION ON A BEERMAT by Nicola Cairncross

Making money is simple.  It’s simple but it’s not easy.

There are only four ways to make money – it used to be three, but the internet has added a fourth.  Those four ways are called, here at The Money Gym, the “Four Lanes of The Wealth Highway” and they include Building A Business To Love, Property Investing, The Stockmarket and The Internet.

So if it’s simple, why is it not easy?

Why is that?

Why don’t we just simply spend less than we earn, save for a rainy day, start a turnkey business using a proven business model, sell information products or our expertise on the internet, and then invest the extra cash we make in property and the stockmarket.  Thus ensuring a healthy cashflow and a wealthy old age.

Why don’t we find out how to do that, and then just do it?

I think it’s because …..

Nicola’s Week: Diary Of A Wealth Coach

At last the sun is shining!  Towards the middle of last week, summer really arrived at last on Shoreham Beach and boy! I can tell you, it’s made a heck of a difference to how I feel.  Waking up every day in the certain expectation the sun will be shining or, if it’s not, that it will be later.

Funny how the sun shining can make everything seem possible, it makes sitting outside the house, on my little bench in the sun, seem like the best way to spend time (without a computer!) and it’s interesting how one’s thoughts turn to travel when the sun shines.  I’m happy at home when the weather is bad, I have coping mechanisms and you don’t notice.  But of course, if one wasn’t’ at home, the weather might not be quite so bad!

After finally actually getting round to reading the “4 Hour Work Week” – an instant classic by the way – and realising that, after building my house in Greece,  what I most want is to travel the world and learn new things in each place!  And that, with The Money Gym, the kids, and the people I love, will jolly well do me on the achievement front.

If you have been reading my ex-client, Lea Woodward’s blog, “The Wandering Woodwards: In An Ideal World” then you will know that this is exactly what she and her husband, Jonathan, have been doing.  They are travelling the world looking for the dream location to work from.  Being a LIP, she calls it, Location Independent Professional.  Great name, great concept and one we embrace wholeheartedly at Money Gym Towers.

The kid’s are off to Egypt for a week with their Dad leaving a quiet house here, which is great because there are no more webinars till September, so it’s a product creation time interspersed with barbeques, trips down the beach (daytime for sunning and evenings (and even nights) for swimming, when the sea feels warmer!)

We have had a great week work-wise, with all the amendments that we have made to The Money Gym over the last year, and mainly due to Rich Shefren’s “Manifesto” starting to filter through into a scaleable, sustainable, marketing and product funnel, integrating slowly but surely with the new membership site.  Gold Express is going like a bomb even with the end of the Summer Special promotion, because I’ve put the imminent membership fee rise on the site

We have integrated the Kayako support system into our sites, and it wasn’t as bad as I thought, except for some miscommunication with the Indian Helpdesk/Installation people.  Their English was excellent and they were very helpful, but we had one issue that we just couldn’t resolve, due to the words seeming to mean something else entirely to my contact there, than they did to me.  Steve had to step in eventually and he was able to puzzle out that the issue was, as usual, due to my thinking the software would definitely do something, that it definitely didn’t’.  But it’s very sexy to use, and as you reply to questions from your members, you can tick a box and add it, and the reply, to the key-word searchable knowledge base.  How cool is that?

Automated marketing, automated delivery of product, automated outsourcing of support…we are SO getting there.  Talking of automated marketing, I had a great call with Mike Segall about generating new business, principly via tele-marketing (not to be confused with tele-selling) and he’s pretty much convinced me it can work for any business (if you have a good lead conversion mechanism).  Well, we do, in the form of Judith Morgan, demon complementary introductory call giver, who just gently shows folks how we do things round here, and blows their mind a bit about the fact they are often independently wealthy but they just hadn’t realised it…..Listen to the call with Mike on the blog, under “podcast” – should be up by tomorrow.

We are about to launch an audio version of the Money Gym book, with over 10 hours of audio discussion, one on each chapter – a great way for readers to bring themselves up to date with new ways of doing things since I wrote the book.  We are adding the four rocking hours of audio recorded with fellow Ecademy BlackStar Mike Segall, on Debt, Property, New Business Generation Via Tele-Marketing, and Wealth Creation generally.

Then we will bundle that with the “One Time Only” offer that people see when they click to buy the ebook, to make it even more compelling.  It already includes three months membership of the site, and a hard copy of the book shipped to their door, so the audio will be a nice value add to that.

Then we will get the audio transcribed so that people like me, who would rather have really horrible things done to them,  than listen to hours of audio, can read along with the chit chat.  More added value.

What’s next?

Hmmmmm, the “Women Talk Money” workshop in London.  Sorry to say, but if you registered your interest last week, you might want to do it again, as something went wrong on the “back end” as us internet marketers say, and it didn’t register anyone.  You can do that here at www.TheMoneyGym.com/Workshop.

The sun’s shining, the sea is blue and it’s coming up for 6pm – tankini time!  Holiday rules apply on Shoreham Beach!

Have fun! We most certainly are….

Nicola

Where Have All The Spaces Gone?

Has anyone noticed that it’s getting very much harder to put spaces in your blog postings recently?  Unless you copy and paste into Notepad first, Typepad (and our membership site at www.TheMoneyGymClub.com too) takes out the spaces!

The problems with that are that you lose any links that were in there and have to put them in manually again (which for the W List below, just was not an option – took me long enough to link to my favourites!)

Bring back the spacing I say!

And what are these annoying preview windows that are springing up all over people’s blogs?  Get rid of them!  (Actually, the only reason I haven’t got them is coz I couldn’t make it work, hence that rogue bit of code over on the right, which I can’t get rid of either – but if I had made it work, I would have got rid of them tout suite as they are VERY ANNOYING!)

The W List Goes Viral

As I said on my previous post, something called the W List was recently started by Valeria Maltoni to catalog the greatest women who blog. This list was picked up by Krishna De, who added some of her own favorite women bloggers, so I’ve decided to take up the call for the list to go viral and post it here, along with some recommendations of my own.

So here are my contributions to the list. I’ve added them in alphabetical order to the list below and rest assured, they distract me horribly from my work! My criteria for enjoying a blog is that you write authentically, you put your own spin on stuff and you blog REGULARLY!  All of these woman do those things….

Careful, you could get lost in there for a very long time!  If you want to help promote great women writing, copy and paste this list into your blog and add your entries in alpabetical order.

Have fun!

Escaping The Rat Race Via The Money Gym

I was delighted when business partner Judith Morgan told me about Sarah Rourke, who has been in our Money Gym community for a while now and who says, in her inspirational new blog "The Rat Race Escape Artist" …..

"Once upon a time (around a year into my first job) I had an itch. It was a mild, painless itch but nonetheless, it was a tickly itch that begged to be scratched. There was nothing for it but to change jobs.

However, the niggling little itch persisted; in fact it spread to other parts of my skin. So I changed jobs again. The itch started to speak to me, at first, whispering, "Scratch me, scratch me". Then when the whisper turned to a whiny plea, "Scratch me! You’ve missed a bit! Up there, no, left a bit!" I took heed and made a major career change involving lots of retraining and even a major house move.

The itch subsided for a while and then it came back with a vengance.

My first ever personal development book, Fiona Harrold’s Be Your Own Life Coach, found me in the right place at the right time and countless books and a coaching diploma later, instead of subsiding, the itch grew to fever pitch. I changed jobs to incorporate my new learning and coaching experience. The itch persisted. A little while later, fortune found me joining a teleclass run by The Money Gym and hosted by its founder, Nicola Cairncross. To say it was an epiphany would be….."
