Golden Nugget #1
by Nicola Cairncross on November 30, 2007
in Money Gym | Success
So I took my own advice and settled down with Rich Schefren’s "Attention Age Doctrine II" and am working my way through it. Being principally visual then kinaethetic, I need to read a bit then do a bit.
About 10 pages in, I found my first golden nugget just after the Five Principles he talks about (for obvious reasons I’m not going to give too much of the report away, because I want you to read it for yourself and find your own Golden Nuggets!) but I thought I might share just SOME of the things I’m putting into action.
Then he mentions Wikipedia, a sprawling behemoth of a thing, where I understand the principle but can’t get to grips with the reality. If there is anyone out there who can tell me how to start an article I would be most interested.
Then he mentioned ProductWiki, a new spring off from Wikipedia, where you can upload factual, non-hypey information about a product of any kind and people can go and comment. If you are a reader of The Money Gym ebook, you can visit Product Wiki here and tell us your thoughts, feelings, actions taken and results >>>>>
Then think very seriously about adding your own products if you are in business! I’m sure it will be heavily indexed by the search engines!
If you are brave enough that is…..I often describe myself with being sensitive with skin of a rhino. I care very much what you say about me and think about me and The Money Gym, but I have learned to shrug off the times when people tell lies or are unkind.
And I pick myself up, dust myself off, look through the folder of emails from those whose lives we have contributed to being transformed and just carry on trucking.

Nicola’s Week: Diary Of A Wealth Coach
by Nicola Cairncross on November 29, 2007
in Money Gym | Diaries
We are delighted with the way our next "Let’s Talk Money" workshop is filling up already, even though it’s not till February, and we have just sent out an email asking for your feedback on which specialist workshops you would like us to put on next year as part of our new "Money Gym Presents……" series. Give us your feedback here >>>>
These are designed to allow us to highlight and showcase the skills and opportunities of our trusted band of experts, including Judith’s own Cleaning Biz turnkey business opportunity, for those who want to start a small work-at-home business but don’t know where to start. These experts have been carefully vetted and one of the criteria is that one or more of the key players in the Money Gym, must be using and rate highly their skills, products, services or opportunity. They will be educating about their core topic and then presenting their offer – which of course there is NO obligation to take up.
The most popular so far are the workshops centering around the Internet, Property and Turnkey Business, so if you would like to see more about creating an income and long term investing from the Stockmarket, Business: Marketing, Business: Sales, Investing Overseas or in Student HMO’s, then Give us your feedback here >>>> or email enquiries@themoneygym.com and let us know which workshops you would love that you can’t see yet.
While I was at the World Internet Summit, our Debtbusting workshop went incredibly well, with our specialist expert able to help 8 out of the 9 attendees (and he showed the 9th how to help himself, using his own assets!). Judith says it’s one of the most rewarding days work in The Money Gym she’s ever done and blimey! that’s saying something.
You can download and listen to a couple of audio’s about the World Internet Summit, as I met one of our Gold Express clients there – she was brave enough (her words) to come and introduce herself and we ended up hanging out together for a couple of days. Judith Parsons has also started her new blog (with a bit of bullying from me and her Wealth Coach Philly Richards) and you can visit her and encourage her with some comments here at http://judithparsons.typepad.com/

After spending four days at the weekend puzzling out the blogging platform Wordpress – and temporarily at least deciding against it – it’s with a massive sense of relief that I’m back to blogging on Typepad.
I’ve even helped my daughter set up and re-configure her old blog at www.PhoebeSoremekun.com as she has switched her focus from Runescape to Teen Second Life now and wanted her blog to be all about that. She also wanted to upgrade her picture from the old "pretty on holiday" one to her new "stroppy teenager" look (see above). I know which one I prefer LOL
I pursuaded her to give her brother her old Runescape site at www.ClobosRunescapeTips.com and I didn’t mention that, as it was generating a passive income, it was an asset and might be worth a multiple of said income and she should therefore sell it to him!! She rips him off quite enough as it is.
You may remember that I absolutely loved Rich Schefren’s "The Internet Business Manifesto" business report last year, with it’s cleverly leaked "missing chapter" and "final chapter".
It had a huge impact on me, The Money Gym business and the way I think about things, and I promptly signed up for his one year coaching course – which has been DYNAMITE.
So you won’t be suprised to hear that the big event of the week for me is the release of Rich Schefren’s "Attention Age Doctrine – Part 2" and for those social networking types out there, I’ve had a peek and it’s a must read if you use social networking and sites like Facebook and Ecademy to promote your business. Or if you are feeling ovewhelmed with the information being fired at you, and coping with your email, phone, mobile, blackberry, laptop, skype, MSN etc. while trying to get some work done!
Scroll down this blog to see a great introductory video ( you can probably hear it playing right now – at least the Panda sneeze has gone to the archives!) or you can visit here to download – totally free – the Rich’s "Attention Age Doctrine – Part 2" here >>>>
What else? Oh, I’m back on my diet (except for our Money Gym Christmas Dinner and the Christmas Weekend) because I’m getting a bit chubby again. When Steve described me as "his portly princess" I knew it was time to do something!! My new year resolution is to join David Lloyd again too, as while it’s bloomin’ miles away, I did like going and speed-walking round the Beach in the rain and the dark is NOT very appealing.
The rather funny little Christmas Lunch – just the three of us – is at the Gary Rhodes restaurant in the Nat West Tower with drinks before in a cocktail bar aptly called Vertigo, also owned by Rhodes. I’m not looking forward to the lift ride but I’ll feel the fear and do it anyway.
That’s pretty much it for this week – sure I’ve forgotten something….!
Have fun, we are even if the fun is a bit scary!
Nicola
p.s. Don’t forget, Judith is taking introductory calls right now for Money Gym Gold / Gold Express for January – if you join before Christmas Day, you get some AMAZING bonuses including FIVE of the specialist workshops completely free of charge!

It’s Official: We Are Staying With Typepad! Well, 90% Sure…..
by Nicola Cairncross on November 27, 2007
in Money Gym | Diaries
I have spent the last four days up to my neck in learning Wordpress and FTP’ing, and I am pleased to announce that we are, contrary to my post yesterday, staying with Typepad for our blog.
The World Internet Summit convinced me that we should swap to Wordpress and initial experiments looked promising so I threw myself into learning it over the weekend as I couldn’t find any experts apart from Lea Woodward – Lea uses it herself and blogged this useful comparison report here) but she lives in Grenada at the moment (see pic above harummmmmppphhhhh!) so was presumably out doing something a bit more fun in the sunshine! It was raining here.
I asked Lea for a quote to setup, design and configure our Money Gym blog on Wordpress because at one point I had to go out and have a drive about, I was getting so frustrated with the whole thing. However, I felt deeply uneasy about handing our blog over and being dependent on ANYONE even someone as brilliant – and as nice – as Lea.
Lea, I think you underestimate how damn capable you are with technology, which is ironic as I mentored you on internet marketing for three months – good job I didn’t realise just how good you are! Lucky I was mentoring you on how to structure and market an internet business rather than the "back end". I thought I was techie but girlfriend! you are one hot geekess!
Back to World Internet Summit UK 2007, all of the big internet marketers are using Wordpress and while I asked them all why, the best reason anyone could come up with was "….because Armand said to". Hmmmm, now Armand Morin is a genius, it’s true, but I need a bit more than that to move a 600 odd page blog from one software – Typepad – that I’m very happy with, love to use, and more importantly has been my recommended blog of choice for ALL our Money Gym clients!
The main two reasons I came up with, after a bit of arm twisting of various speakers, was:-
1. You host it on your own server and domain name so it helps massively with Search Engine Optimisation. Now the workaround we have always used with Typepad, is to link to your site from your blog and link to your blog from your site, and that seemed to work fine for us. A "virtual circle" of traffic and search engine spiders I call it.
2. You can paste Google Adsense all over a Wordpress blog (up to the limits of what Google allow) and you can put code to show Adsense ads automatically in the footer of each post thus driving up your revenue. I have previously been doing this manually with a bit of HTML code and often I forgot.
PROGRESS?
I managed to move the Money Gym over, export my posts from Typepad and then import them on the new blog. However, it all started to get very technical when I tried to use the custom templates, and then when I used the one-click install for my Nicola Cairncross site, and the version downloaded was not the most up to date version.
I duly downloaded, unzipped and uploaded via FTP the "one click upgrade" plug in, and clicked the button. All seemed well but then everything stopped working. I fiddled about for a while but ended up deleting everything and starting again. Sigh.
On Monday, I tried again, talked to Lea, but still couldn’t get to grips with it all and when I realised that any upgrades might overwrite any customisation I had done………….well, as far as I’m concerned, there is just TOO MUCH room for error. Especially for those non-detail orientated amongst us.
Judith and Steve are heaving a sigh of relief, I can tell you, but I had to KNOW!! I had to find out for myself, so that I could rest easy in my blogging bed.
Control muppetry at it’s finest I know, but at least I only wasted a few days. Good job I fail fast and then recover fast too.
Sign of a successful entrepreneur that, by the way!! LOLOLOLOL
More Great Internet Marketing Tools: Affiliate Project X
by Nicola Cairncross on November 24, 2007
in Money Gym | Diaries
Sorry guys, I’m bang smack mad about the internet again! Sitting in the audience at World Internet Summit last week and looking around the room I got quite cross. Why, I had to ask myself, are we not making thousands per week like some of these people are? Sure, we make a really good extra passive income from recommending some of the tools we use ourselves, but why have I never cracked the big money on internet marketing – particularly affiliate marketing?
I know that Judith is particularly keen to crack this too, and to that end we have been trying to puzzle out Clickbank, by putting my ebook up there so that YOU GUYS can sell it from your sites and make money. Not as easy as it initially looks but we are there.
Click here to sign up as a Clickbank affiliate and make cash from our ebook btw! Just scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "affiliate partners" link.
Then I started thinking harder about all this. Especially as I’m mentoring my sister Sarah, who owns a site called www.TheVirtualHammock.com and who is about to turn it into an affiliate income generator around her two core interests – raw food and Second Life. She has just registered two great new domain names www.RawrrrFood.com and www.RawrrrLife.com. I spent ages talking to my first Second Life boyfriend last night too, who is reading the Money Gym book and has just ordered the E-Myth book, as he feels that the business lane is the way to go for him……..so the internet could work for him too.
So, if we know affiliate marketing works, because we regularly get commissions for stuff we recommend on an ad hoc basis, I’m wondering how much more could we make, if we followed a coherent plan?
So then I went looking for such a plan. I knew there is a great big ebook by a guy called The Rich Jerk out there, but felt his style was way too abrasive for my blog readers.
I went looking for an easy to follow affiliate marketing blueprint and lo and behold, after a little while of perusing those endless sales pages, I found one, recommended by many of the people I had met at World Internet Summit. Affiliate Project X.
I mmediately bought a copy and let me tell you, there is an AMAZING bonus on the back end that I took full and immediate advantage of!!
Actually the whole business model for this is great – almost as good as Tim Brocklehurst’s at Viral Spiral Secrets. See if you can work out why it’s so good and post a comment or two on this blog.
I’ll keep you posted!

Just a quickie to let you know about what I consider the No #1 List Building Tool launched by Tim Brocklehurst at the World Internet Summit last weekend.
In fact, I saw it on the official blog for WIS and bought it even before I got there!
Here’s a free ebook that explains the principles behind it, and I’m just working my way through the process now, so I’ll let you know how I get on….

Basically, they are harnessing the power of the internet and viral marketing techniques to encourage people to get involved in this campaign "10 Million Clicks For Peace"
They really made it effortless to sign up, to donate via PayPal, and there is a great little fun tool called an "Impact-ometer" where you can see the difference you, and your contacts are making. Great fun, check it out!
Business Success Secret: A Good Vocabulary
by Nicola Cairncross on November 12, 2007
in Money Gym | Diaries
There is nothing we like better here at Money Gym Towers than a great word! I love to confound Mr Watson with a word he’s never heard before and he loves to catch me out using inappropriately obtuse (see that’s a good one!) words to the children. For example, when he caught me telling P off and using the word "extraneous" – his point being that if she can’t understand what I’m saying, she can’t take my point on board.
If you want to blog and write, you will need a decent vocabulary and some sense of grammar, but generally you can get away with writing as you speak (without the more juicy words obviously!). In order to create business success, particularly online, writing an ezine and blog are crucial skills and you shouldn’t hold back from having a go.
I really believe that reading a lot as a child gave me a great start with vocabulary, however, I didn’t always know how to pronounce things properly, a source of great amusement to my father, and now to my better educated and singing sister Heather (www.Altovoice.com )
One of our Money Gym clients Claire Westwood, of www.HappyNurses.co.uk has just sent in a brilliant brainteaser, where you test your vocabulary skills, and for every answer you get right, the site donates 10 grains of rice to alleviate world hunger. Compulsive stuff and very addictive – yeah, thanks Claire!
Check it out at www.FreeRice.com and for your info, I got to 600 grains of rice and vocabulary Level 42 before I felt I had to stop and get on with some work!
Bye Bye Buy To Let (Apparently!)

Nicola says: Interesting email out of the blue, from Oliver today, enclosing a report for me….read on for my reply (at the end). I also did a search online for Finance Confidential and the only link I could find was here at Agora Publishing and I’m not sure it’s the right one.
"Thought this might interest you – in the interest of debate/alternative viewpoints! I have less enthusiasm about property now, although have just bought a house for me…… Have done it on a mortgage of course despite being able to do cash as want to leverage. Remaining funds going into Traders University exercise, other stock investments, Hotbed et al. Keep smiling though as surely not all property will tumble. Maybe some nice planner will realise we ought to be allowed to build on some of my land! Best Wishes, Oliver"

Gill taught me loads about wealth creation and Guy taught me loads about Internet Marketing, and they both spoke for the UK’s 1st Wealth Creation Conference back in 2005. Ah, the good old days!
