Wealth Creation Rip Offs

Sometimes I’m almost ashamed to be a “wealth creation expert!”  So many scams going on around me, so many people being ripped off, so many dodgy blokes in suits selling unscrupulous products and services.  I’m sick to the stomach when I hear about some of the things some companies do.

Why did I, in 1999, become obsessed with creating wealth for myself and then have this great idea about sharing what I learned - it’s a bit like deciding on purpose, voluntarily, without having my arm twisted, to become a double glazing or timeshare salesman.

Why didn’t I just do it for myself and keep schtum?

The problem is that there wasn’t a Money Gym around when I was struggling financially, when we couldn’t pay the rent and we had to move to my sister’s tiny cottage and cram ourselves in with our kids, her kids, my husband, then her husband (who was supposed to be away at sea but who broke his leg and came home on sick leave).

There was nowhere to go, to get the very basics of wealth creation in one place.

O yes, you could learn about investing in shares, or building a business, or investing in property (real estate) but there wasn’t anywhere to get all the basics and you certainly couldn’t learn about making money online without wading through piles and piles of emails.  So I could see the need and because I was only a few steps away from feeling the pain myself - how could I NOT share what I was learning.

And that grew into The Money Gym - in those days just me and the telephone, coaching clients myself.  It was only with the arrival of …..

……Steve Watson (manager of my favourite restaurant then of my hotel) and Judith Morgan (an ex-client and ex-accountant) that the company started to grow. But with our growth comes the emails - the very very sad emails telling me tales of people who have been ripped off.  Ripped off by unscruplous big companies who - even if they have half decent products - really are focused on selling, selling, selling with no thought for whether the products are right for the clients or customers.

Worse are the emails from people who have invested in companies like Morris Properties (as featured on the Panorama programme last week - read a transcript here >>>>>) owned by Simon Morris, and who now can’t sell, can’t rent them out and who are subsidising those properties by hundreds of pounds a month which they can ill afford.

Yes they should have done their due diligence but who is there to teach them to do that?  Nobody.  How can they know, unless they are in a group like our Money Gym google group, what to look for, what to ask?

This is just the latest in a series of property investment scandals, which makes our friends from Passive, Greg & Andy’s job harder too, as they also have to overcome the scepticism of people who have heard of the “Morris” and “Manchester” scams among others.  Andy & Greg have a totally reputable company buying investment property for  people who don’t have time to do it themselves, and all of my friends and family have invested with them too, so I always recommend them.  Yes, they pay us a commission, as do every one of the companies we work with, it’s an important part of our business plan. But we only recommend products and services we use, and spend money on, ourselves.

Anyway, coming back to The Money Gym and how important I think it is that we carry on our work of educating people about how to become independently wealthy.  People in Europe who don’t have any access to this information really, unless they happen to have stumbled on “rich dad, Poor Dad” accidentally.

But the only way we can continue our work, is to keep attracting clients.  And build the business bigger, with a firm foundation of marketing, systems, strategies and processes.

This is why I’m on rich schefren’s business building coaching programme myself.  And why I devoured viralurl.com/moneygym/mavenmatrix">his latest report, about becoming a maven in your marketplace.

In it he asks “What is your vision, your personal crusade, your purpose for your marketplace”

And it’s a big question.

I’m going to be working it up on our new blog here (just moved from typepad to Wordpress in just part of my quest to reach more people via the search engines)

So, for starters, I’m going to say the following and I welcome your comments.

The Money Gym enables bright energetic people to make more money and become independently wealthy.  We will offer an affordable range of wealth creation and wealth coaching products and services, from the eBook, through workshops and group coaching programmes, to the one-to-one coaching, so that there is something to suit everyone.

We will continue to only recommend products and services where we know them to be of value, and where the owners of the business have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to improve and look after their customers.
