Ghosts At Hazlewood – A Spooky Update
by Nicola Cairncross on March 31, 2008
in Money Gym | Diaries
When I finished that video last night, of Hazlewood Castle, there was 14 minutes of it, including footage of my bedroom, the hallway and the top landing – the one that made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck every time I walked along it. When I uploaded it to Viddler.com, it seems to go up fine. When I looked at it on Viddler today, not all of it was there – about 7 minutes was missing and not all of it from the same part of the video! Weirdly it seemed to flow just fine and I only noticed when Susanne Jorgensen emailed me to say “where’s the ghosts then?”.
I can only assume they they got into the hotel ethernet via my wire thingy and intercepted bits! LOLOLOL
Odd though. And I did end up sleeping with the TV on because I was a bit spooked. Did you know you can watch Casualty and Holby City at 1am? Madness.
I’ve had another go, and it will be interesting to see if it all uploads this time eh? Let’s see….you will be able to see the big gold and red bed and the spooky stairs right at the end, if it does. After this I’ll edit and upload the testimonials and footage of the breakfast itself.
Judith’s New Shed
by Nicola Cairncross on March 31, 2008

Judith Morgan, our partner in The Money Gym has been updating her hilarious blog about her move to Streatham from Canary Wharf, in her bid to a) downsize while simultaneously owning her own home AS WELL AS a string of rental properties and b) bringing financial freedom ever closer (where your outgoings are covered by your PASSIVE income). She has erected a shed (or some handyperson) has, to keep what would normally be kept under the sink, in the broom cupboard or in the garage, having none of those. Judith, we really need a bigger picture of that shed – it looks darling!! You can find out more and keep up to date here >>>>

Property Crash? Andy Shaw comments…

PASSIVE INVESTMENT UPDATE:
This post is an old one obviously but it gets a lot of traffic from the search engines. The news that Passive Investments have gone into liquidation is shocking for everyone. Read The Latest Money Gym Statement Here>>>>
The Post Previously Read:
I knew Andy Shaw wouldn’t be able to resist on the dreadful headlines about the property market for long, and I was not disappointed. If you can’t believe a man who, with his partner Greg, has built up a property portfolio worth over £30 million, then who can you believe eh? Andy says….
“I was doing some research the other day for our business Passive, and I was asked to find some research from a recognised professional that backed up my argument about the fact that the country is not over geared despite what the media says.
Well here’s quite a good one that I thought you’d like too -
http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/jan/12/housingmarket.houseprices
Martin Ellis is the chief economist of Halifax and he is stating that the property market is now worth £4 trillion, which is three times the UK’s annual output. And it shows household debt at what is commonly thought to be a staggering £1.3 trillion.
Now I have been trying to say that for years but never got round to looking for the figures to back up what I was saying. So, really basically, if you look at the country as just a person, it is worth £4 trillion, and has £1.3 Trillion of debt ![]()
So our mortgage and household debt, cars, loans, credit cards, the lot, gears us as a whole to 33% of our equity.
Can you tell me what loan to value the banks consider virtually zero risk lending?
Well different banks view it in different ways. Allied Irish view 70% as virtually zero risk, while Nationwide view 65% as virtually zero risk. Some banks go down to as low as 50% before they view it as virtually zero risk. But we as a population are at 33%, which is well below the risk criteria of even the most conservative of banks.
What does this say to you about the way the media and the government view the extraordinary high levels of consumer debt? It says to me: scaremongering. ……

Moodling, Canoodling & Just Saying Yes!
My daughter’s school has sent home information about their new online elearning environment called Moodle, accessible from any connected computer apparently. I first heard about Moodle via Chris Barrow as he played with the idea of using it to run the elearning / content management system for his dentist clients. I downloaded it and had a look at it for our Money Gym clients, prior to our membership site, but it was one of of those Open source programmes, a bit like Joomla and AMember and even really Wordpress, which unless you ARE ACTUALLY a rocket scientist, you have no hope of installing and then successfully working with yourself.
I have had a look around, in her account, although the bare bones are there and the initiative is brilliant, there does not seem to be any actual content yet. Phoebe hasn’t seen it yet but I’m sure she will be delighted to cut into her MSN and texting time, to do her homework online, which I now will actually know about! NOT.
Busy few weeks for speaking engagements as I’m off to Yorkshire this weekend, to stay at Hazlewood Castle on Sunday night, ready to speak to the Yorkshire branch of The Institute of Directors breakfast meeting on Monday. It’s a 4.5 hour trip each way, so the laptop batteries will be fully charged up, and hopefully the train to York from Kings Cross will have a power source! It had better had!

I am a new fan of Gary Vaynerchuk, having been introduced to him by Rich Schefren, via the audio for Rich Schefren’s business acceleration coaching programme, which I’ve been on for over a year now.
Here, Gary demonstrates how powerful video blogging can be, and makes me determined to do more of it, using my FlipVideo. I’m off to speak on Wealth Creation and Business Success in Yorkshire, for the Institute of Directors, leaving tomorrow, so I’ll dig it out, and do my best!
In the meantime, here’s that video blog from Gary. Check out the location!
