Life as an internet marketer never runs smooth and this week I tried to send out a video postcard about Alan’s workshop.  Now, while I can see it fine in the “postcard creator” software, on the blog, on YouTube, etc, you can never predict  what will happen online and lo and behold, it didnt’ seem to work.  Well not for two days anyway - it’s working fine now!

One of the lessons to learn and I have learned it.  Do your best, tell everyone what is happening, and try anyway!  Better to be out there than perfect eh?

Bit of a story around this video postcard….in addition to the fact I now have to ring the USA at lunchtime to see what’s gone wrong and why it’s now working but it wasn’t when I sent it out grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr….

It took me about 5 hours to get ready for that video as I just couldn’t get my lavelier (tie) mic to work - actually I haven’t been able to get it to work for two years now.

I have a lovely studio quality desk mic but I find I’m more animated if I stand up, and also, I wanted to know if it would work with an Olympus digital voice recorder.

Sarah and I carried out exhaustive tests involving various combos, camera and mic, computer and mic, mic via computer sound card, mic via Ederol sound card, and many others - we did 8-9 tests in all.

At one point Sarah said “I take it there is a battery in it and it’s the right way up?” knowing me of old.

(It’s usually a good idea to check something is plugged in when I say it’s not working!)

So I looked, and knowing it was a new battery, said yes, and we carried on testing.

Eventually Steve got exasperated with the twitterings from my office and said “Bring it in here!”

We did, he opened it up, took the battery out, put it back in again, and lo and bloomin’ behold, it worked.

Battery was upside down.

Hurrrumpppphhhhhh!

Then it was kids time, driving sister home time, etc,etc.

I came back and about 7pm there was a spare moment with everyone one downstairs and I just went for it….

Spent the evening watching Apprentice and editing and then couldn’t sleep (new diet) so thought….may as well get that postcard out!

3am and I get my own postcard and like some of you, it wasn’t downloading properly.  Decided enough was enough and went to sleep only to be woken at 3.25 by 12 year old who
was scared of the noises the foxes make mating outside her window.

I was a bit tetchy all day as you can imagine.
