Money Worries? The One Show Reveals “Debt Relief Order”

If you have debt problems, this might be for you.  On the One Show on BBC1, they are talking about the new “Debt Relief Order” which is designed to help people who are facing bankruptcy but who can’t afford even that.

From Wikipedia:

“A Debt Relief Order (DRO) will be a simplified, quicker and cheaper alternative to bankruptcy in the United Kingdom, suitable for debtors who have few or no assets (less than £300 and not homeowners) and little disposable income (less than £50 per month). It will be possible to apply for a DRO without attending court and the fee is to be £90. The fee may be paid by instalments prior to applying for the Debt Relief Order”

They have also been talking about it over at Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert, on the forums, albeit before it went live (as of today presumably) and you can read more here >>>

Beware though, already there are Google Adwords Ads springing up from companies looking to profit from your problems, so get all the facts, and get some advice from the Citizen’s Advice Bureau first if you think this might offer you relief from your pressing debt problems.
