Last weekend I went to London to speak for Neil Asher’s clients – over 120 people in the Millenium Sloane St who were bright, interactive and well up for learning new things.  Neil had a good solid lineup of speakers and I was delighted to find Money Gym coach Philly Fuggle there as Paul was speaking about Total Business Cart the next day.

My talk went well and we attracted two new clients to Membership Club Magic.  Two other nice surprises were two people in the audience – Geoff who I hadn’t seen since the Coachville conference in Las Vegas and a lady (Carole? So sorry, I was on a post talk adrenaline high and I don’t think you gave me a card!) who had coached me back in the very early days at one of Bob Griffith’s hot seat coaching days in London – you were trying to encourage me to raise my rates from £279.50 a month to over £300 and I was very resistant apparently.

Well I’ve so got over that and she was very pleased to hear it.  I think the difference is that I know the value of what I deliver.  And of course, I don’t need personal coaching clients as my main income is via the Money Gym, but I choose to work with a few people at a time, purely on internet related stuff, because I enjoy it.

Then I stayed up for dinner – a great Indian with a crowd of Neil’s closest clients and friends, and then up early to go to Heathrow for a rather disappointing event, where they were expecting 400 but only 90 showed for the first day,and only about 45 for the Sunday.  Added to that, a couple of unfortunatel incidents made my talk popular but not very successful in terms of attracting new clients, but I enjoyed seeing Michael Young, meeting Yvonne from the African & Caribbean Business Network and it’s always a joy to hear Andy Harrington speak – he was particularly good this time!

The big news this week is that I’ve not only started to re-write my Money Gym book, but that process started me mindmapping / planning the next one.  Then, all of a sudden, it started to pour out of me!  I just couldn’t help myself!

Money Gym Interviews | Jennie Armato

As we prepare for the Money Gym “Really Useful Internet Day”, here’s another in the series of interviews with Internet succeess stories – real people making real money (and big money!) online. I first saw Jennie speaking at the first ever World Internet Summit and we have subsequently become firm friends. Jennie is a mean Texas “No Limits” Hold’em player and won the Internet Marketers Cruise tournament last year (I came in about eighth!).  This interview was recorded the night before Jennie was due to speak at Mark Anastasi’s Traffic Generation Summit in London on 29th June 2009.

You can see Part 2 of Brett’s interview when you put your name and email in the VIP Priority list at http://www.TheMoneyGym.com/internetday and when we launch the bookings at the end of this week, and you confirm your attendance at the day and donate £25 to the Big Issue, you’ll get to enjoy the rest of Brett’s interview, Jennie’s interview and Martin Avis’ too.

Exciting Things Planned For Autumn 2009 At The Money Gym

Well, it’s Autumn and the kids went back to school on Friday – they loved it!  You can only enjoy so much “hanging abaht” doing nothing apparently!

After a week or so of feeling really quite down, mainly due to the weather, I’m perking up a bit and looking forward to the speaking gigs and exciting projects I have to work on.  Steve creating me a new and very gorgeous looking blog has helped – so thanks Steve!

If you are feeling like you want a new start on your wealth creation, like the kids have a new term, then here’s an overview of and exciting Autumn at The Money Gym.

Portobello Road, Paintings, St Pancras & The Papillon Club

Well the fun quota is about to reach maximum toleration levels this weekend.  Later today, I get on a train to London with Sarah, to go and meet Jennie Armato and Paul Clarke, for dinner. I’m interviewing Jennie for my new Money Gym book and then we are going to one of my favourite restaurants in London – Galicia in Portobello Road for aperitifs.  Real Spain and full of local spanish people especially early every evening.  Then onto Osteria Basilico – which is Italian LOL -  for dinner.

Then off very early on the Eurostar from St Pancras, which has the longest champagne bar in Europe, Judith tells me, and which opens at 7am I notice from the website.  We leave at 8.30 sharp so best not go there….

To Gard Du Nord in Paris where Heather is meeting us and taking us to our hotel – for some reason she doesn’t trust us to make it through Paris on our own.

.cat3 Portobello Road, Paintings, St Pancras & The Papillon ClubNot sure if we are seeing “Carmen” on Friday or Sunday, but on Saturday we are going for dinner at a charming and apparently marvellously eccentric restaurant & rooms on an island on the Seine, described by the owner Odette thusly …

“Our medieval house, located on Ile de la cité, one of the best area of Paris, was built in 1512. It became a restaurant, as well as a guest house during the 18th century.  Odette et Georges welcome you in their french restaurant where all products come from french organics farm every week. You will discover the Odette’s specialities like “Hot Foie Gras”, “Mini Scallops”, “Duck breast with Orange sauce”…”

I have no idea what else is planned but I’m sure it will be great!  Our package included tickets to the Louvre, and as the last time I was in Paris was before the Triangle thingy was built, I will definately want to see that as well as revisit the Monet paintings.

We are staying at the Antin St Georges Hotel, which looks perfectly nice and is in the Bastille area, pretty funky from my recollections of previous visits, with lots of live music bars.  Very close to the Opera House which is essential so Heather can look after us LOL.

Don’t you just love the way you can look everything up on the internet nowadays?  I think it takes a lot of the fear out of travelling if you can visualise where you are going.  Well it does for me as I’m a bit of a worrywort (now there’s an old word for you Judith!).

I’m struggling to write this as I’ve hooked up on Facebook, with a dj who DOMINATED the South Coast in the 70’s and 80’s and funny enough, his name is Paul Clark too (see above for my dinner plans).  Paul use to play in every decent soul and jazz funk club in the South East and had a residency at both the Inn Place and the Papillon club.

The Inn Place is legendary and lasted through Soul, Jazz Funk, Punk, Hard Times & New Romantic, so you get a feel for how popular it was and how long it lasted. The loos opened out onto the lane behind, and the cistern was ALWAYS leaking, so it was very swamplike in the ladies.  You had to enter the club via a precipitous staircase that was practically vertical and felt more like a ladder, hell in high heels and they always were high in those days (unless they were silver sandals!)

Now, if I told you that Kim and I used to go to those clubs from Worthing, and that £1.50 got you a return train fare, and a coca cola AND get you into the Inn Place (35p as I recall), then you will realise we are talking about my teens here!

We used to go to jumble sales and buy mad stuff and rush home to put it through the washing machine and tumble dryer before wearing our amazing outfits that evening.  My dad used to wait at the bottom of the stairs to see what we were wearing this week and CRACK UP!

Good days, great clubs and the music was awesome.  Check out this page of their Top Tunes – it autoplays so just sit back and enjoy – I’m talking to you Peter Stanley!!

We are missing their first reunion event in Brighton on 6 August because we are off to Spain for August, but I will certainly be checking out the next one.

Have fun, we always do!

(But I don’t know how much more I can take LOL)

Nicola

p.s. RIP “Elias”, the huge but generally gentle doorman at the Inn Place and the Escape Club.

Bonjour Mon Ami! Free Traffic Generation Seminar tickets – déplacer vos fesses rapidement!

Bonjour Mon Ami, Here’s something good but you have todéplacer vos fesses rapidement!

But first……did you know I have an Opera Singer sister?  Her name is Heather and I’m very proud of her.

So why am I telling you this?

And why am I testing my school girl French to the max?  Some might even say “painfully”.

Because my family loyalty was put to the test this week….Bigtime!

I had to choose between going to see singing sister Heather sing at the Paris Opera House in “Carmen”, one of my favourite operas of all time…..and going for a long weekend in Paris with Sarah……

OR…….

Going to see some of my very favourite people speak at what looks like one of the biggest and the best seminars of the year.

People like Alan Forrest Smith, Jennie Armato, Guy Levine (who taught me so much back in the day), Mark Vurnum and our very own Mark Anastasi.

O yes!

Since going to the “Break Free Seminar” recently, Mark has shot into my Top 10 Speakers list.

Worldwide.

Also featured at the Summit is a little known (so far) chap called Gareth Owen who taught me one little trick that has EXPLODED my Google Adwords results. Alan Forrest Smith says Gareth is his secret traffic weapon.

Well, I was chatting with Mark Anastasi the other day, as I want to interview him to find out some of his secrets, and he mentioned his upcoming Summit.

Oh, I was so disappointed not to be able to go!  But Heather and Sarah would never speak to me again if I cancelled this trip.

Mark was cool though and he did something very special for me, even though I can’t go.

Today Mark allocated me 20 tickets to “The Traffic Generation Summit” worth £97 each to GIVE AWAY to my clients.

(each ticket comes with £1,582.00 in bonuses, by the way)

He said, “Nicola, don’t worry, get some of your very favourite clients to come along, and I’m sure they will share everything they learn with you!”

The man’s a genius!

Of course you will.

So here goes with the info…..and remember, you have to share!

Internet Marketing – Last Bastion of Male Chauvinism?

I was talking to Judith the other day about wanting to share a stage with the “big dogs” of internet marketing and she asked me why I had such a huge burning desire to do that.  I hadn’t really stopped to think about it much, but I know there is a real lack of female internet marketers, although there are no shortage of successful female entrepreneurs and executives in the marketing and direct marketing world.  And everyone says they want more women on stage to encourage other women to get going.

I don’t think of myself as a feminist but I do believe we have as much right as men to do (and behave) however we want.  But I quite like to take my internet marketing boots off at the front door, I love male company as well as female and find Alpha Males very attractive indeed.  So being around the “big dogs” sure works for me, but I want their respect as well as their attention.  Perhaps it’s akin to wanting the approval of “daddy” eh?

Some of my early female inspirations in the internet marketing world were Sylvie Fortin, Donna Fox and Jenny Armato, and I really enjoyed Debra Thompson-Roedl on stage at the World Internet Summit just this year.  Actually the WIS boys are very good at putting women on regularly and Brett did not strike me as a sexist in any way when we hung out together recently.  And I’m really looking forward to going on an internet marketers cruise with 300 internet marketers where I know a large percentage of the delegates will be women.

Come to think of it. Joel Comm’s “Next Internet Millionaire” reality TV show was won by a woman too…a very pretty but steely determined type called Jaime Luchuck, who looks like a lot of fun – you can read her story here.  Then there is the very famous iJustine on Justin.tv….

Looking back a couple of weekends, I know Brett McFall was surprised when he saw so many women in the audience for our live event…..So I was intrigued to read about Donna Fox’s visit to the invitation only Eban Pagan “Green Room event here on her blog

Donna says “I recently had the pleasure of attending Eben Pagan’s “Green Room” a secret gathering of 100 elite among the top internet marketing movers and shakers.  As I rubbed elbows with my old friends like Mike Filsaime, Stephen Pierce, Ben Mack, Alex Mandossian, Dave Lakhani, Jeff Walker, Jason Moffatt, Ryan Kaltman, Joel Comm, Harris Fellman, Tom Beal, Keith Wellman, Gary Ambrose, Brad Fallon, Tellman and others you’ll no doubt recognize…

…and even more people who I’ve never heard of, like one guy who’s spending $150,000 a DAY on his adwords ads (so I think he probably knows a thing or two)… or a call center owner who has an amazing close ratio…

something became glaringly obvious to me…

I was the only girl there.

Yep, in a rush to get 100 of the top marketers to the event, Eben had forgotten the women.

it’s important to note, I wasn’t originally invited by Eben directly, my friend Ben Mack weaseled me in with some strong words of suggestion.

Ok, before I go further,I’ll confess to two things.  First, I don’t know if Eben invited any women that chose not to attend.  If so, big mistake on their part.  Second, I wasn’t the “only” women there.  There were 4 more.  Two Ebean employees, one bartender and a wife.  Which may go to explaining a little bit of the reception I got at the event.

“Who are you here with?” was the most common first question I was asked by a stranger.  Yep, as if I couldn’t have possibly been there on my own, like they were expecting me to be a wife or employee… or cocktail waitress :)

But mostly, they just ignored me.  They would say hi or introduce themselves to all the men in a group I was standing in, then with much discomfort and pointedness, their eyes would just float over my head, never making eye contact, to go onto the next person.  It was surreal…..
