How To Be A Millionaire (Right Now)
by NicolaCairncross on September 15, 2009
in Money Gym | Success
The key phrase that brings the most traffic to our website is “how to be a millionaire” and at about number five in the list is “how to become a millionaire”. Hmmmm, that’s interesting isn’t it? Just think for a second about what people are doing when they type those two search terms into Google, or their search engine of choice.
The phrase “how to become a millionaire” implies that people are searching for the “how to” of becoming a millionaire and actually I’ve written a great report that gives you that very information.
It’s called “How To Become A Millionaire (In Just Five Years)” and it’s very popular.
It sets out, in plain english, what you need to do to become a millionaire from property investing, the internet or from building your own business, which I feel are the three easiest methods for most ordinary people (of which I definitely count myself as one!). You can download it here >>>
When you look closely at the phrase “how to BE a millionaire” however, it implies something different. There are shades of “how to be famous” or “how to be beautiful” or “how to be loved” and there is an element of just wanting it to happen, to just be, without having to become.
Because being something, like a millionaire, implies you are already there, you have made it, you have succeeded.
And let’s be clear here, I’m going to talk about self-made millionaires here, not people who have inherited millions, like Prince Harry did today, on his 25th birthday. 6.1 million left to him originally, which has grown with interest to 9 million plus apparently.
(Today while flying helicopters on his birthday, Prince Harry is being a millionaire without having had to become a millionaire. I wish him happy birthday and all the happiness in the world because no amount of money can replace his mum!)
Whereas becoming something like a millionaire implies that you know there is some effort, some work, and even, dare I say it, some changing involved.
So more people want to be a millionaire, than become a millionaire.
I’m a bit obsessed with this topic at the moment and have started a series of articles on “The Secrets Of Success” on our blog and you can read them here as they unfold week by week.
Because I have realised that it’s actually easy and quite simple to find out how to become a millionaire.
The bit I’m most interested in now is learning how to BE a millionaire or even a billionaire if that’s what you want!
Because I have learned that you have to BE one, before you can BECOME one, at least in terms of attitude, thoughts, feelings, decisions, the people you surround yourself with, your actions and most of all the quality and amount of those actions.
Let’s look at those things, those requirement if you like, one by one, shall we?
Being A Millionaire – The Attitude
What kind of an attitude do you think a millionaire would need to have?
Open minded? That’s quite likely as you would need to be able to listen to new ideas without dismissing them out of hand.
Generous? Possibly, there are probably mean ones too, but you often hear of millionaires and multi-millionaires being great philanthropists. Look at the programme “The Secret Millionaire” on which my first ever wealth creation mentor Gill Fielding appeared – those millionaires are actually giving away their own money.
A “Can Do” attitude would certainly help because in order to become a millionaire, you would need to have overcome problems, bust through challenges and above all, to have never, never, never given up.
The Thoughts
What kind of thoughts do you think you would need to have in order to be a millionaire?
Upbeat thoughts would help you overcome those “grey days” everyone gets and I would imagine someone who has become a millionaire has got pretty good control over the kind of thoughts they would allow in their heads. This is tough at first, but the more practice you get at it, the more easy it gets.
Excited? Yes, I would imagine a millionaire would have many excited thoughts, as every day must be a new adventure. From the next business venture to the next holiday, there must be many exciting things to think about when you can do just about anything you want to and have complete freedom of choice.
Creative thoughts, definitely. You don’t get to be a millionaire without having been creative at some time…perhaps you created a product or service that filled a need or solved a problem. Perhaps you saw a great solution to something and took that idea from the original thought, through a trial to launch – that’s a creative process right there.
Positive? In order to be a millionaire you most definitely have make sure your thoughts are more often positive than negative. Negativity is the lethal enemy of creativity and of taking action and taking action regularly.
The Feelings
Feeling Optimistic?
Yep, because if you are not optimistic you would never start a project. It’s different feeling optimistic from choosing to have positive thoughts by the way, just think about it for a moment. Can you say you both feel optimistic AND have positive thoughts?
Feeling Responsible
Feeling responsible is a bit of a double edged sword actually, but master the proper grip and you will become very strong indeed. You need to feel responsible for yourself, and take responsibility for your own success, but you need to be careful of shouldering responsibility for others, their results and their happiness.
First born children in families – while more likely to succeed – need to be especially careful of this, as they often had to take responsibility for siblings, and parents struggle a little bit too. Of course you are responsible for your children’s safety and getting enough love, but you are not responsible for the happiness and success of other adults around you. That’s their job.
The Decisions
Being a millionaire involves making decisions, They don’t even have to be great decisions or the right decisions but making decisions is absolutely crucial. Making decisions means creating momentum and all millionaires have created massive momentum at some point. They made decisions knowing that they could correct course later if they needed to, but that it was important to get going!
The People
Being a millionaire means surrounding yourself with great people, people you can trust, people you love, people who, ironically, don’t care that you are a millionaire. It also means being around people who inspire you, who challenge you to be your best, and who you can continue to learn and grow from.
Actions – The Quality
I once read in a Steven Covey book that you should always do the right thing, not the easy thing. That really struck home and it’s served me well in many tricky situations because most of the time, the action you want to take is the easy action (for you) but not necessarily the right action.
Of course “right” can be defined in many different ways – what is right for you might not be right for someone else (in their opinion!) So you have to decide what action is right for you, by whatever criteria you define. Is it right for your business? Is it right for you? Is it right for your wealth creation? I think most people have a deep sense of fairness and are inherently good people, so I try and decide if the action I’m about to take is fair to as many people as possible and I ask myself if Nicola as a child would think it was a good thing to do – kids have a great sense of fairness and goodness I think.
So, you have to take good quality actions to be a millionaire so that you can live with yourself and sleep well at night, in your luxury mansion.
Actions – The Amount
Here’s the big one. I’ve come to the realisation that both becoming AND being a millionaire means doing much, much more than most people would do. When we went to T.Harv Ecker’s event in New Jersey, there was an exercise that he got us all doing (and made us promise not to tell) which made me realise that I always used to only ever do the BARE MINIMUM (much like employees only ever do the minimum required to keep their jobs), and that successful people aim way beyond doing the minimum – they take MASSIVE ACTION.
In conclusion, I hope that this article has made you think about the difference between becoming a millionaire and being a millionaire.
More importantly I hope it’s made you realise that you are much more likely to become a millionaire if you act like you are ALREADY a millionaire.
Because being a millionaire involves a whole different set of decisions, people, actions – both the quality and amount of, thoughts, attitudes and feelings and you can start to cultivate and practice those today.
I would love to hear/see your comments and thoughts on this article – if you just click the “share your thoughts” link just under the title up there, we can get a discussion going!
Beach Dreams, Breaking Free & Board Meetings
by NicolaCairncross on May 31, 2009

Summer’s definitely arrived on Shoreham Beach and how do you think I know that? Apart fromt the lovely weather, with May’s storms out of the way, the Beach Dreams tent has gone up on the Green. Any long term reader of this ezine will know I wax lyrical about Beach Dreams every year and some may even remember the picture taken from INSIDE my handbag the first year I got my FlipVideo. Nelson’s “Dad Dancing” video has now had 231 views and is rated 3.5 stars!
The Beach Dreams Festival and particularly The Tent is an institution round here, selling tea and cake to raise funds for the festivities and, after school, it’s always full of kids and visiting foreign students making the most outlanding costumes for the parade.
Everyone who can bake locally, does so, and drops cakes, scones, cheese straws etc in as donations, and the many home-made cake lovers on the Beach make it a point of obligation to support the Festival by dropping in on a regular basis to drink tea and sample the goodies. Home made cakes remind me of my nanny, with whom I lived for happy years as a child, and I love the whole village feel of Beach Dreams.
Photo by the much travelled Jim Callender – see more of Jim’s photos here
While looking at our Money Gym YouTube channel to get the stats for Nelson’s video I can see, using their new Insight feature, that our MG / YouTube audience is 58% female, between 45-54 (which we knew actually). I would have thought our audience would have been slightly younger than that, between 35 and 55, thinking about the clients who have had the most success with the Money Gym.
Success is all relative as we know, and this fact was brought up again by one of our Silver Elite clients on a call recently. She said that she would only want to be mentored in Wealth Creation by someone who had millions in the bank and could prove it.
We gently reminded her that it’s not always about being a millionaire, but about being financially free. And you don’t need a million to be financially free. It’s all about not having to go to work (if you don’t want to) or doing work you love AND to spend your days growing your wealth and having fun.
Also, no self-respecting millionaire would keep millions in the bank. For one thing, it would be losing money, and wouldn’t be safe as the government guarantee only £50,000 per person per bank, but there is also the opportunity cost to be considered.
I’ve been approached by my publishers with a theme for a new book – I was twittering on the topic and they said they had been looking for someone to write a book on just that very thing! I’ll start a mindmap and see how it grows. I already have a few ideas for what I would want to cover.
I love to write more than anything else I’ve discovered and I’ve got at least three more books inside me and business partner Judith Morgan says she has one too – her wealth creation journey so far. Judith is a brilliant, funny, poignant writer and I for one would consider that a rattling good read. I would just love to buy a house in Greece and one in Shoreham or Brighton perhaps, and just divide my time between attending seminars, travelling between the two houses, seeing the world, writing and hanging out online.
We are having an interim Board Meeting on Monday at a lovely Elizabethan Manor hotel, to discuss further the shape of the Money Gym for 2010. Yes, I know we just did that, but certain key things are changing and we want to make sure we are all happy with the direction we are heading. YOu can do that when it’s your own business. The Money Gym is growing all the time, in all different kinds of ways, and we want to make sure that it continues to serve all our own individual “Primary Aims” for our lives, in E-Myth Terms.
More about that in today’s article.
Last weekend I attended the “Break Free Seminar” with Pat Adams and Mark Anastasi which I thought was totally excellent. They are both great speakers and delivered excellent content, around using direct mail and the internet to create an information publishing business. I took at least six page of notes and learned loads of new stuff, so even if you are an experienced business person or marketeer, consider attending their next one in June and you can book your tickets here…..
One seminar I would NOT be missing if it weren’t for a prior engagement, is Alan Forrest Smith’s appearance at the British Library at Rachel Elnaugh’s “Marketing Magicians” Alan says: “Next Tuesday, June 2nd, I will be one of the keynote speakers for BBC and Dragons Den star Rachel Elnaugh. Not only am I thrilled to be asked to speak for her at The British Library, I’ll also be presenting with some serious heavyweight entrepreneurs. This gig is different, it focused on real business people or wanna-be smart, fast track entrepreneurs. There are around 300 places (BUT I think it’s almost sold out). I am also presenting a stack of new ideas, stories and marketing nuggets that you can walk away with. It’s all here…”
My next speaking gigs? We have a Money Gym “Let’s Talk Money” day
on June 13th which is packed to the rafters and then I’m speaking at Ambar Hamid’s Wealth Thing event on June 6th and then I’m on again for Triumphant Events, with Dr Topher Morrison on 5th July.
Have fun, we always do!

Gold For Christmas?
by NicolaCairncross on November 8, 2008
in Money Gym | Diaries, Money Gym | Success
Have I talked to you about our Money Gym Gold Level 1:2:1 coaching programme recently?
No? Blimey, I’ve been doing you a massive disservice!
Especially if you are struggling on alone, trying to make sense of this wealth creation business.
Coming up to Christmas, this is traditionally the time that the biggest numbers of people sign up for Money Gym Gold, because they are wanting to make suire the coming year is different.
They want to make sure that another year doesn’t slip by, without making some changes to their financial life.
They want to make sure that this is the year they turn things around and really get moving, get learning and get taking action.
Perhaps this sounds like you?
If it does, then I ought to remind you that at the Money Gym we are totally unique in the UK, in that we offer an intimate 1:2:1 coaching programme as well as our Silver Membership.
There are no other wealth creation training companies in the UK that offer 1:2:1 coaching, tailored to your individual circumstances, and delivered by fully trained coaches, who are also successful ex-clients of the actual programme they are working with.
I also need to let you know that we are incredibly strong and knowledgable in all four lanes of the Wealth Highway, unlike all the other companies out there who just focus on one.
Now you might think that focus is a good thing, and I would agree with you if we are talking about setting up a new business, or website, but NOT if you are just starting out in the wacky world of wealth creation and you haven’t got a clue yet which road to wealth would be the fastest easiest route for you!!
Oh, yes, we are talking fast and easy – that’s our mantra in the Money Gym. No slow, boring, painful plans allowed here. We want you to have fun along the way – we all do.
Now, are you aware that we are the most successful UK wealth coaching & training programme (in terms of clients results) and we’ve been around since 1999? We are really proud of that.
All that said, I’ve been wondering over the past couple of months why you are not beating our Gold doors down yet! Particularly in this current climate.
Then I realised why………..I haven’t mentioned our 1:2:1 coaching programme for ages – I’ve been totally focussed on our recent events and adding to our traffic and attracting Silver members.
Pretty slack.
Gotta tell you, I beat myself up for a bit about that….and I’m really sorry!
I’m OBVIOUSLY not communicating to you effectively enough that, in Gold, we MAKE MILLIONARIES – even multi-millionaries, out of ordinary people.
Bright energetic people, sure, but outwardly ordinary people nonetheless.
I’m OBVIOUSLY not telling you clearly enough that, in Gold, we are particularly successful with getting results for women. Must be the unbelievably uncritical and supportive environment we create for you gals.
I’m OBVIOUSLY not convincing you enough with our testimonials that we have created millionaires out of our seemingly ordinary clients, over and over again, since 1999.
(It doesn’t help that some of them won’t let us tell you exactly how much money they have made online, in their new businesses, or how much thier property portfolios are now worth, or just how much they make per day trading on the stockmarket – because they don’t want their friends and family to know!!)
I’m OBVIOUSLY not shouting loud enough that we can show ANYONE – yes, particularly YOU – how to make your first million pounds.
We know we can show you the fastest, easiest way for you, that uses your unique skills and talents, your existing assets and strengths.
(Whether you go on to actually do it….well, that’s another matter, and to be honest, it’s much more likely in Gold. Those coaches are on your side and you often do more work in the five minutes before a call than you have done all week!)
I’m OBVIOUSLY not communicating effectively enough that we guarantee that you will make your money back – if you do the work – within your first year. Remember the story from Chris Ogle, who made his whole year’s investment in Money Gym Gold back within 12 days?
Or perhaps becoming a millionaire is not what you want?
I based that assumption on what most people type into Google to find us. People lie, when I ask them how they found us, you see. They don’t want to look “greedy”.
(We soon teach you that wanting it all is not greedy, because only when you have a lot, can you help others).
They tell me they want security or a nicer life but I know what they are typing in Google.
“How To Make A Million Pounds” is the highest converting key phrase for us – both in terms of subscribers (people joining our mailing list) and front end sales (people buying the ebook or the £4.97 bundle).
But it did occur to me the other day that all the Google evidence might be wrong….perhaps you guys really don’t want to become millionaires.
Oooooops!
O dear, what if we are barking up the wrong marketing tree here?
I’m about to start marketing Gold 1:2:1 coaching programme for the traditional “New Year, New Start” run up to Christmas
And I don’t want to get it wrong…..because that would not be fair to you.
I don’t want anything to stop you joining us, if you really want to make your changes.
So……….
Will you tell me what you really want financially? Right now? Will you answer this one question for me?
http://tinyurl.com/whatdoyouwant
Some answers from your future Gold Money Gym mates already are…
…..To do the work I CHOOSE to do
……To correct a badly imbalanced cash flow and have my investment properties supporting me instead of me supporting my properties
……To reduce debts
…….To have enough money coming in passively (truly passively) to give us the freedom to do what we want when we want
…….To help others in a massive way
……..To try challenges without it threatening my lifestyle
……..To treat my family
So, if any of this is working for you, if you recognise yourself in any of the above, and you want to make sure you secure your place in the “2009 Gold One Hundred” Hall of Fame, then go and have a look at
http://www.themoneygym.com/gold
and make the decision to make 2009 the year you take action.
Secure your place now – places ARE limited – and start work right now. OR tell Judith you want to start with your coach in January 2009.
Go into Christmas knowing you have done something to make your financial life better – and relax.
I’ll let you know about the survey results!
Warm regards Nicola

Christmas and the New Year is traditionally the time when the Money Gym signs up the most numbers of Gold 1:2:1 coaching clients, to work on the telephone, privately, with our coaches (all ex-clients themselves).
I’m about to launch a marketing campaign, like I do every year, to encourage you to think about yourself for just a moment in the madness that is Christmas, and to think about giving yourself a great present for 2009 – financial freedom and the chance to become a millionaire like many of our previous clients ahve gone on to do.
But times are a’changing and what you wanted from the Money Gym last year, might not be what you want this year.
So we are running a survey to find out what you really, really want, financially, in your lives right now.
The results are very interesting and I’ll come to those in a minute.
We still want more replies to the survey to get a really accurate picture so if you have a minute, will you nip on over to
http://tinyurl.com/whatdoyouwant and tell us.
Just one question, tick the box multiple choice answer. Easy peasy.
It’s early days yet but it seems 25% of you really want to run a successful business and 25% of you want to be able to work from anywhere and travel the world.
So how come you are not booked onto our Money Gym workshop next Saturday then?
Because we are going to show you next weekend how anyone, yes! even you! can start an easy, simple, successful and part time business that can be run from anywhere in the world and which can bring you in sums like £15,000 for an initial outlay of just £18 (I showed you how in the email you got earlier asking you what you do in your spare time).
Oh! Didn’t read that email, eh?
Interested? Thought so….
Secure your place here – we need you to book as the hotel is pressing us for numbers earlier than usual and you don’t want to miss this one
http://www.themoneygym.com/mgpresents/peterwoodhead
I’ve been busy on the blog this week…a very brave soul on the Silver & Gold Webinar this week shared their story about how much in debt they are, which created a very interesting conversation. (Our survey is showing that 15.2% of you would like to be debt free)
I’m convinced debt – while a problem in itself – is a symptom of a much deeper problem. The deeper problem is that of not earning enough money. Certainly not enough to give you the lifestyle we all want.
And that’s why I’m on a mission with The Money Gym – to get you thinking about making more money but in the meantime…..
You can read about my 10 Point Bulletproof Plan To Destroy Debt here >>>
I was idly watching This Morning today while drying my hair and getting kids off to school
and noticed Seal on the show talking about his new album and how the election of Barack Obama was sending a message around the world that the “American Dream” is alive and well and that ANYONE can seize it for themselves and make it their own (no matter who they are or where they were).
What is the American Dream? It’s a familiar phrase but do we really know?
http://www.themoneygym.com/blog/2008/11/american-dream/
Many people say to Judith and I “I wish I had a Steve Watson” and you know how much we appreciate him. The Money Gym simply wouldn’t work without Steve and how he puts up with us nutty female creator/star entrepreneurs, I don’t know.
Well, Rich Schefren’s team have recently hosted a great “behind the curtain” webinar where all the Steve Watsons behind all the great internet marketers reveal the tools and secrets behind running huge internet empires. They are rebroadcasting that webinar three times – today, tomorrow and Sunday at times to suit even the Brits. I highly recommend you listen to one of them if you want to build a business online.
And Rich is also giving away some of the most brilliant but simple to follow process maps – called CashMaps – that I’ve found so useful since being on his coaching programmes.
You could do that while you wait for my next email….which will be all about how joining Gold and working 1:2:1 with one of our coaches will give YOU a 100% chance of working out how YOU could create a successful business and travel all over the world.
In the meantime, have a read about how Barack Obama harnessed the power of blogging and social networking to win the election – over at Tim Brocklehurst’s blog
Have fun, we always do.
Cheers

Simple But Not Easy – Part I
by Nicola Cairncross on May 1, 2008
in Money Gym | Diaries
Wealth Creation Is Simple But Not Easy!
I had a great conversation with one of my high-achieving internet mentoring clients today, Susanne Jorgensen, of http://www.thesinglesgym.com/ about the oft-repeated concept of “It’s Simple, But Not Easy” – she is really starting to understand what I mean – and I realised that it was so important that it warrants its own article.
I often say to potential Money Gym clients, when out and about speaking, that Wealth Creation is simple but not easy, and what I mean by that is that making money in each of the Four Lanes of the Wealth Highway is really simple to do, but it’s not at all easy or everyone would be doing it!
So why is it so difficult?
We all know intellectually that we have to get off our “assets” and take action but why is that so incredibly hard to do? Because our self esteem, our deepest emotions, our limiting and negative beliefs, our incorrect assumptions get right in the way!
Firstly, there is our cynicism to get over. We really deep down believe that if wealth creation were as simple as everyone makes out, everyone would be doing it and from that we infer that it can’t be true. It’s a con, it’s a cult, it’s just a scam. I was the worst! I often say that my hair and skin have improved enormously since becoming a wealth coach, because I’m not so cynical about better quality beauty products anymore! In the same way that I invest in knowledge I invest in self-care and I now watch the adverts to see what works!
I never imagined before I got into this wealth creation stuff, that becoming a millionaire were so simple. I can remember the relief I felt when Gill Fielding (one of Channel 4’s Secret Millionaires and my first wealth mentor) told me that! She said there is only three ways to make a million (I’ve discovered a fourth since then…) and I thought, great, I can do three things!
Business Success: One, Two! One Two!
by Nicola Cairncross on February 29, 2008
in Money Gym | Diaries
I’m planning a major new report thise week – the working title is “Back To Front Marketing (Killer Wealth Creation Strategies For The 21st Century Business)” but it’s only a working title. I have a better – shorter – one in mind.
As all good ideas do, it came to me in the shower, and luckily my memory cells are sufficient that it lasted past the hairdryer and breakfast and all the way into my new work space, the dining table, which is conveniently close to the sofa, my new convalescent day bed. Handy for naps.
The article grew out of my thinking about several events coming together, as is the way, synchronistically (is that a word? if not it should be!) First of all, a rather intriguing new magazine arrived yesterday from The Entrepreneur Channel and it caught my eye because it’s got an article by Duncan Ballentyne from Dragon’s Den (cor) although the man on the front cover is Andrew Reynolds, whom I have only met briefly but know to be a VERY SERIOUS business person.
I first came across Andrew when he pretty much singlehandedly put 1200 bums on seats for the World Internet Summit UK (the year after I spoke for them sadly!).
He’s a quiet man, but knows how to enjoy his wealth – he recently had a lot of fun at his 50th birthday party, including having Elton John playing for the guests live!
Then I met him briefly at the secret filming for Alan Forrest Smith’s product for Entrepreneur TV, and we discussed the possibility of my working with them, but nothing has come of it (yet).
His dad and grand-dad were aspiring business men, but as Andrew recounts in this magazine, they were always working to a flawed business model so never made any money. He talks very eloquently about the look of “despair and rage” that he regularly saw on his father’s face, and this still drives him today. Andrew grew up in very poor circumstances indeed – one pair of trousers and shoes at a time, always cold in winter- and so he worked very hard in corporate life, albeit miserably, until he came across an business opportunity that resonated with him, offered by someone who he already knew of, liked and trusted, so he jumped in with both feet.
Two interesting points there. No matter how entrepreneurial you are, and how hard you work, if you have a flawed business model, you are never going to make money, let alone become rich, via the business lane of the Wealth Highway. It’s one of the two main Lanes most multi-millionaires use to become seriously wealthy but it’s a minefield if you don’t know what you are doing.
How can you know if a business model is flawed? Well, you won’t unless you have learned by bitter experience or you have a mentor. Some business people discover a successful model by trial and error but many, many more give up before they find one.
This is my own experience. I must have started about 40 business since I was eight years old, but it was only after meeting my wealth mentors that I realised that there is a blueprint for business success, especially business success that leaves you free to enjoy your life, but that hardly anyone – unless they have been successful themselves – can tell you what that blueprint is.
The real hidden danger in business, the sargasso sea of this lane, is actually ….
Become A Millionaire – Part 6
