When Two Tribes Go To War… Which Online Tribe Are You?
by Nicola Cairncross on February 4, 2010
in Money Gym | Success
The words of the iconic Frankie Goes To Hollywood song “Two Tribes” just about sum up the storm that’s brewing in the “make money online” world, with one tribe being the Internet Marketers and the other being the professional bloggers….
But before I tell you that story…first a bit of background…
Last weekend I went to Mark Anastasi’s ListBuilding Masterclass which, I have to tell you, was rammed to the rafters and a “who’s who” of internet marketing. This was amazing in itself because this was a free three days, and usually when you give tickets away for free, you usually get less than 50% of the registrants turn up, while on Day 2, you only get 70% of those who were there on Day 1, with Day 3 being only 50-70% of those on Day 2.
In fact I think there might have been MORE people there on Day 3 than Day 1, as it was a Sunday! The crowd was definitely a high proportion of self employed and business people with the employed forming perhaps a third?
Contrast this hungry, up for it crowd at the Thistle Hotel with a much quieter little gig over the other side of town, which had been billed as a Wealth Creation seminar and was, unfortunately the gig I was booked to speak at!
The numbers expected are usually 50- 100, only 30 odd showed up and when they found out that I was speaking on internet marketing, half left, having already booked themselves onto the stock trading workshop they wanted.
Great! So I delivered my best material to a crowd of …….about 17. I think they liked it!
Make More Money | Just Because You Could (Doesn’t Mean You Should)
by Nicola Cairncross on January 20, 2010
in Money Gym | Business
As you might know, I’ve become obsessed with the concept of success, what makes some people successful and others not, why do some strive for success and succeed while others fail? My new Money Gym book is going to be all about that and I think I’ve come close to identifying some key factors that make you more likely to succeed.
I’ve also been interviewing loads of the successful people I know, to get their take on it, to see if they have identified a key quality or action that has made the people they mix with more successful than ordinary folk.
The other thing I’ve always been fascinated by, is the ability to make good decisions, particularly with regards to business: which business, where, who with, what next?
I have been known to buy the odd self help and business book (the odd 500 or so plus books, more like!) and I definitely remember buying one in my early 20′s called “How To Make Good Decisions” which is probably still around somewhere here! I used to find it hard to make any decision, let alone a good one, and it’s still a struggle sometimes.
So when I hear that a particular guru of mine has had a life changing moment, has made a momentous decision in their lives or has an opinion about success, I’m always very keen to read about it or see them explain it.
Frank Kern is one such guru – don’t know what it is about Frank but he speaks directly to the heart of many people I know (and it’s not just the girls with that blonde surfer dude thing he’s got going on – my business partner Steve Watson rates him too!)
I find him inspirational because he come across as fearless, he doesn’t have to watch what he says, and he really does seem to live the life he wants to. Authentic and funny, Frank strikes me as honest, and trustworthy. No mean feat, online.
The other day I had an interesting experience with his InfoMillionaire organisation. I had previously subscribed to InfoMillionaire and for a few months enjoyed the excellent posted newsletter they produced. Then they obviously decided to discontinue the posted version and to take all the material (and believe me it was great quality and there was a lot of it) online.
I’m the biggest fan of membership sites as you know, but as a customer….this didn’t suit me as I just wanted Frank and Trey to tell me what to do, prefereably in a format I could read in bed on a Sunday morning. I just didn’t want to spend MORE time online.
So I emailed their support, telling them I wanted to cancel my subscription and why, and that I was still a big fan and would, no doubt buy something from them in the future.
I got a great email back saying it would be actioned immediately and a refund issued! Wow, I hadn’t asked for a refund, in fact I had been quite happy with, and would have settled for, just cancelling.
The good vibes I got off this little exchange made me take action and dig out the free DVD I had sent off for recently, featuring Frank Kern at Rich Schefren’s Strategic Profits Conference a couple of years ago, and someone banging on about media buying (you can see where my interest lay!)
I put it in my laptop and settled down to watch a bit of it in bed, and by 1.15am I was still there……
Rich Schefren | This Could Be The Last Time…
by Nicola Cairncross on June 10, 2009
in Money Gym | Internet
I’ve got Mick Jagger and the Stones rolling through my head here, because this could really BE the last time something of this magnitude is offered.
Let me explain…2 years ago, Rich Schefren personally coached a few lucky individuals to multi-million dollar success…
The program demanded MAJOR commitment and was so intense, several students couldn’t handle it and dropped out.
But those who stayed in reaped MAJOR rewards, and continue to do so to this very day. I was one of the students that stayed and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that it changed the way we do business at The Money Gym completely.
However, the demanding structure of the program virtually sapped every drop of energy from Rich, and it was a long while before we heard anything from him.
And he swore up and down that he would never again offer a coaching program like that.
EVER.
Then things started to change in the marketplace…
More and more people began struggling with the same issues…the same constraints…and the same roadblocks that kept them from achieving the success they so rightly deserved.
People were screaming for solutions, yet there were none to be found.
Meanwhile, Rich had spent an entire year uncovering a breakthrough system for crushing those barriers and skyrocketing business success.
So when the roar got to be too loud, there was only one thing left to do.
Yep–back to the salt mines.
http://tinyurl.com/schefrengps
The Guided Profits System is your GPS to success, helping you to finally overcome those profit- blocking constraints and move your business to the next level…
Rich is doing it again, with an in-depth coaching program that blows away anything else on the market today.
Just like the first time, only a lucky few will take advantage of the ultra-powerful, ultra- intense masterplan Rich has in store for them. And a handful will undoubtedly succumb to the pressure.
I’m sure you’re not one of them….are you?
http://tinyurl.com/schefrengps
This is an EXTREMELY rare opportunity to have Rich personally rework your business from the inside out.
And if anyone knows how to do it, he does. After all, this is the guy who:
–Wrote a Manifesto that changed the way we do business…
–Followed that with a series of groundbreaking reports that were downloaded hundreds of thousands of times and shook the internet marketing world to the core…
–Coached dozens of high-profile gurus to success, including Mike Filsaime, Joel Comm, Michel Cheney, Tellman Knudson, and more…
–Pulled off a record breaking teleseminar with more all-star marketers–and more listeners–than any other…
–Went 26 hours straight on an unprecedented web broadcast as more than 27,000 viewers watched with fascination…
And there’s more where that came from.
Needless to say, that’s quite a resume. And now he’s offering you a chance to work with him personally?
Talk about a slam-dunk to business success.
http://tinyurl.com/schefrengps
Do yourself a favor–take a look at what Rich is offering.
Take a GOOD, LONG look. Because who knows when we’ll see this again.
Like Mick says, “Maaay beee the laaaast tiiime, I dooon’t know…”
http://tinyurl.com/schefrengps
See you there,
Nicola Cairncross
P.S. If you’re thinking “that sounds expensive”, think again…
Because Rich is making it as easy as possible for anyone–ANYONE–to get inside the GPS program.
There’s discounts, payment plans, and bonuses up the wazoo. And that’s only scratching the surface.
The guy’s ingenious how he set this up. Go look for yourself and you’ll see what I mean.

Burglaries, Bootcamps & Brilliant Sunsets

in Money Gym | Diaries
Well, there is only eight hours to go to find out if I’ve won a trip to Florida to visit Rich Schefren’s office for a weekend and work with his team.
Week One I didn’t feel I’d achieved enough to enter (even though I HAD restarted my live wealth creation surgery / TV show on www.MoneyGym.tv),
Week Two I had techie challenges before giving up as it was all too stressful and the natural daylight gave out….but Week Three I thought ok, here we go. Taking no chances I started work on Wednesday!
Three weeks in, three live internet TV shows under my belt, the latter two with live video skype interviews of Money Gym Gold clients, it’s got to be worth a shot.
Add that to the fact that an odd but great side effect is that I’m exercising nearly every day, going to the gym just to able to listen to the coaching again and better absorb it.
Add that to the fact that I’ve secured a joint venture partner who can get me in front of 85,000 people in the UK, 100,000 worldwide….surely that’s enough to get me in the running?
So I made my video, edited fiercely, added music front and back (yes! my cheesy theme tune!) and annotated throughout…then uploaded to Viddler.com and I’ve tried to remain unattached to the outcome ever since.
I realised of course that I was submitting it wrongly, direct by email, the first two times, so I have resubmitted by online form, so fingers crossed.
(Learning takeaway is to always read the instructions…….yeah, as a 7-9 on the Kolbe Quickstart Index that does NOT come naturally)
What else has been happening this week?
I’ve recorded a video introduction to the Money Gym which we will be split testing on a welcome page, for cold traffic, along with our other two welcome / squeeze pages – the old fashioned one which used to convert at 14% and the more modern one converting at 2.64%.
We are honing our “potential new customer journey” all the time and Steve is constantly working on refining the experience the new customer has with us. There is a bit of a tug of war between the marketing dept (me) and the customer service dept (him) but he largely wins.
The Membership Site Bootcamp day went very well, with Mike Crowe filming, and he got some GREAT pics – I even liked how I looked when caught unawares, which is a miracle. Wonder how many Mike had to ditch before coming up with the final 20 or so. We are just waiting on permission from all concerned, before uploading them to Facebook & Flickr. Mike really managed to capture the informal but focused style of our workshops, so I’m very pleased.
Now, once Mike has got the DVD’s to Steve for editing into a virtual version of the day, we can create a product out of that, the webinars, the blog and membership site installation videos that we are having created…and then it’s onto an info page. Eeeeuuuuuwwwww, my least favourite bit. We usually write one ourselves so we have a control/test, then go and talk to some copywriters…….!!
My goal for 2009 is 10 x high quality cutting edge / evergreen info products like that, then I will have a whole armoury of products to go out speaking with.
As Autumn progresses, we have had some BRILLIANT sunsets in Shoreham this last couple of weeks. You always forget the sunsets are better in winter – why is that? I have often had to stop work and take some video but the quality is not as good as a camera would be. So just for this ezine, I’ve borrowed Steve’s camera and taken one as the sun sets…..look at that! I love the view from my office.
And I’ve had a bit of a larf with the “36 Things You Never Knew About….” list on the blog today, which reminded me of the most awful dream I had last night…I got burgled while I was living in a flat in Brighton (say what?) and came home to find a whole burglarising family stripping my possessions out and loading them into a van up the hill, and I woke up as I was running up the road after them shouting…
“Take the lot, but please not my lappie……………”
Have fun, we usually are!
Cheers
Nicola

I know! It’s been AGES! I have to hand my head in shame, as not since the birth of this ezine in 1999 have I missed so many weeks.
How has this happened, when I know that the ezine is the cornerstone, the bedrock of our marketing? Especially while the world is going mad and the papers are full of doom and gloom….I should have been reassuring you!
Because there are not many people in the Money Gym camp who are not making more money in these uncertain times….our Gold and Silver clients are as ebullient as ever and finding more opportunities to make money, not less! And the supportive environment we create via the private email group is enabling anyone who is struggling to get help, support and resources/recommendations FAST.
Well, the first week’s ezine was missed because it was the week before our Brett McFall event and there was just SO MUCH TO DO. I had no idea when we said “Hey, let’s do an event with Brett” how much we would be upping our game.
I have to say, he was a delight to work with…organised, professional, fun, calm, supportive, challenging in a nice way. I would go there again in a second and I hope we can get him back next year.

Rich Schefren is doing a 24 hour Live TV show, answering business success questions live, coaching live, sharing great stuff, with special guests and phone in’s…..this is awesome stuff and you know that I’ve revolutionised my business from Rich’s teachings, and I’ve been watching since last night, with a minimal sleep break – my contact lenses are nearly welded to my eyeballs….
Wealth Coach Diaries: Nicola’s Week

STREAMLINING…..
Sometimes, something great creeps up on you and suddenly the time is just right to put it into action.
We have just crossed our 2007/2008 end-of-year at The Money Gym and compared with 2006/2007 it’s almost unrecogniseable. Together with the input from Judith and Steve, what I have learned from Ecademy and Rich Schefren and other mentors, we are finally within sight of the inspirational picture Andy Shaw painted for The Money Gym back in 2005.
In 2007/2008 we tried new marketing methods, introduced new products, bundled things together, got professionally written sales letters for our two core products, created and then finally ironed out most of the wrinkles on the membership site. Hmmm, well nearly.
I got to grips with online video, MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, WordPress blogs, I started a live TV show at Justin.tv (ok, so it’s been a bit on hold the last few weeks but it will be back) and we came across some GENIUS experts and some mind-blowing wealth creation techniques to share with our members.
So what’s 2008/2009 going to look like? Streamlined, that’s what. Judith sent an email prior to our quarterly focus meeting next week, that just made so much sense that we have put some of it into action already.
The product / marketing funnel looks like this….
FRONT END
1. Various free reports upselling to….
2. Money Gym ebook – bundled with 30 days Silver Membership trial upselling to….
3. Money Gym ebook / paperback – bundled with 90 days Silver Membership trial
BACK END
1. Money Gym Silver Membership – ongoing membership of our community, very affordable, including virtual / telephone wealthcoaching with optional workshops at a big discount
2. Money Gym Gold – 1:2:1 wealth coaching with Year 1 workshops thrown in free, ongoing lifetime membership for free, which after Year 1 includes the option to purchase one-off wealth coaching sessions from any of the coaches.
3. Money Gym Events – face to face wealth coaching / experts at specialist workshops
That’s it. Nice and simple. Works for us, certainly works for our clients.
SEARCH ENGINES
Our Google Analytics across our sites / blog is finally working properly thanks to the lovely Caitlin and the sterling techie efforts of Steve who somehow seems able to interpret and implement the incomprehensible (to me!) instructions of said Caitlin.
Next step to set up “goals”, so that Google can track how many of our unique visits actually do what we want them to. This is click to the upsell page, and then actually buy and ebook / ebook upsell.
I want to know, definitively, if we get 1000 unique visits, how many click to buy, and out of those, how many buy the upsell. Then how many take up the free trial at the membership site, and out of those, how many stay past the first month, second month, third month, six months, one year….etc etc.
Good info = good decisions.
Then we restart our Google Adwords campaign, to drive traffic to our ebook sales page again (now the complete product / marketing funnel is in place) and then the next step is…..
Google Website Optimiser.
This is where you use the might of this free tool from Google to test hundreds of versions of your sales pages to work out which one of the many combinations sells best.
I have NO IDEA conceptually how that can work but I trust Google enough to know that it can. I can’t wait!
SLEEPOVERS
Somehow I have been inveigled into letting my kids have two back-to-back sleepovers – two friends each. No idea how that happened, as Steve and I had previously said “no more!”.
Friday night is the 13 years old girlies, coming here to get ready for Snap @ The Honey Club, a police run disco at a proper grown up nightclub in Brighton. The mums & dads take it in turns to drop off / pick up, and somehow…I agreed to let her have her two mates over afterwards. They want chinese to eat afterwards so I’m heading to Tesco for some ready made meals – marginally better for them than take-away!
Tomorrow night it’s Nelson’s turn, with two little boys he will be taking over the lounge so they can have fun with the Playstation and a couple of movies. The boys are marginally more bearable than the girls, whose incessant giggling does my head in!
I can’t remember ever giggling that much!
Joint Ventures RIP! Long Live Strategic Partnerships
by Nicola Cairncross on May 23, 2008
in Money Gym | Diaries
This week has been an interesting one in the world of both business success and internet marketing. The excellent Stompernet faculty has opened it’s long closed doors to a limited number of new students and what is rapidly growing into the “must join” membership site / online university has been following the classic “product launch formula” method of giving away great content before selling anyone anything.
Attraction marketing at it’s finest.
One of the things that Stompernet have been giving away, is lots and lots of free videos on improving your rankings in the Search Engines. Check out those and their fantastic new and totally free tool to find out what Google sees when it visits your site here >>>
Another is Brad Fallon, founder of Stompernet, together with one of my mentors Rich Schefren, discussing on some great videos on why you should stop thinking in terms of quick and dirty Joint Ventures (where you just mail for them and they mail for you) and start thinking in terms of value-adding strategic partnerships.
Think about who you could work with on a long term basis, that you
1. Like – this is very important
2. Respect – you have to feel happy recommending them and their company
3. Know have unique content that you don’t have that your subscribers / members would enjoy/benefit from
We have long been a fan of this in The Money Gym, with our existing alliances with those who we consider to be the best in their field, such as our “Money Gym Presents….Our Favourite Experts” workshop presenters, but specifically Passive Investments, Tamkin Riaz, Marcus De Maria, Alan Forrrest Smith and now Tim Brocklehurst, Brett McFall, Claire Raikes, and Dave Lee, The Cashflow Investor (see Wealth Highway article today).
But it’s all been a bit informal and I’m starting to think about making it more formalised and also more reciprocal in some cases.

Rich Schefren is, as always, at the cutting edge and he’s taken up a good couple of hours of my Saturday morning already……
Rich is at SXWS and is twittering live while hanging out with some really cool people. If you want to keep up with the news “as it happens” as they say on the TV, called “How To Instantly Transform Your Cell Phone Into A Eavesdropping Device That Picks Up The Most Profitable Information Online Today” then check out his blog over here >>>>
I have been twittering for a while (love the 3D mashup with Google Earth, which you can find at Twittervision) and I also get my blog posts feeding into my Twitter profile and my twitterings feeding onto my blog and also my Facebook profile. Love this stuff! You can find my Twitter profile at http://twitter.com/wealthcoach - Now I’m off to learn how to twitter from my mobile as suggested by Rich……I’m 46 for gawd’s sake!!
