A note from Nicola
|
Dear Friend
I felt really odd the other day and
couldn’t put my finger (aka a 'wodgie'
in our family) on it and then I
realised that I was on top of my “to
do” list, pretty much. I actually
have enough time to do the things
that I want to do, and I’m catching
up on the “big jobs” too! Wonderful.
The easing of the inner tension –
which comes from the pressure I put
on myself to be constantly learning
and improving things – is a weird
feeling.
This has come about because of our
decision to look at everything we
have been doing, and if it can’t
come under
The Money Gym banner (or be a
hobby) we are not doing it.
Actually that’s not strictly true,
we are still DOING other stuff (like
my internet mentoring and Steve’s
SteveWatsonOnline.com stuff, but
if it can’t be MARKETED under
The Money Gym banner, I’m not
marketing it.
Which means less of the constantly
coming up with new marketing copy
and website copy and email copy… you
get the picture. We are following
our marketing system and it’s
working (check
out our newly launched Money Gym
Silver and Gold levels here >>>)
I caught myself saying to Steve the
other day “do you know Steve? We
ought to take a look at X’s new
programme……….” And then I stopped
myself. No, nothing new, please!
We have plenty to work on, improve
on, and come up with new ideas for,
with our main business
www.TheMoneyGym.com and then our
now largely passive income
businesses:-
www.SuperMatchSoftware.com (got
some great applicants for the MD /
Bus Development Manager and the
special offer for the next 10
customers),
www.AutomatedMarketingMachine.com
– looking at different marketing
initiatives nowadays for the Home
Study System
www.TheRestaurantCoach.com
(revamping the ebook at the moment).
www.ArtistManager.com is
just my little “hobby” business in
case I get bored... which I spend
Sunday mornings on. I'm
working on driving up the traffic
via MySpace.com and creating
affiliate income is my focus at the
moment.
Talking of leads, is it just me or
is Ebay totally impenetrable? I can
barely even buy things on it! I was
stirred by a presenter at Yanik’s
Underground Event who said that she
sold $0.99 reports on her chosen
topic to generate leads, and got all
excited about that, but her son did
all the techie bits so I got no joy
out of her as to HOW she did that. I
tried it and it cost me £26 for not
one lead.
I’ve also invested in a programme
called Ebay Profits or somesuch,
because it said it would show me how
to sell Info Products on Ebay to
generate leads, and be able to
digitally deliver them, but then
when I tried it, Ebay have changed
their “sell” page and it looked all
different and even though I
contacted support and got a detailed
answer as to how to find the old
“sell” page, still no joy on
puzzling it out.
Now Jason Hulott, who gives us such
great information on our
Money Gym and AMM discussion
groups, is posting about eBay and
the Top 10 Hot Searches, and I
followed his link and all I found
was a load of folks looking for iPod
Nanos and even when I drilled down a
bit in other categories, I couldn’t
even begin to puzzle out how to use
eBay to get traffic.
Is anyone out there making money or
attracting traffic on eBay?
Tell me about it by commenting on
the blog pleeeease.
You
may have heard about my daughter
Phoebe - she's a born entrepreneur.
She wants a new laptop really really
badly and would ideally like a pink
one (just like Judith does).
She's
been fascinated by the internet for
a while - the idea that you can make
money online gripped her imagination
and I've been helping her make a
website that will make money from
Adsense - it's at
www.ClobosRunescapeTips.com -
Clobo70 being her Runescape
character.
Phoebe is really good at making
money on Runescape - making
Runescape Millions it's called. She
mines ore and weave flax and goes on
quests and trades items like armour,
and other valuables.
Her website is where she is
going to share hints and tips and
warn other players about how not to
get scammed.
We have also made her a MySpace
profile (now, you really will need
your sunglasses to look at this one)
and it's at
http://www.MySpace.com/Clobo70.
it's Day 2 and no traffic yet; she
was hoping to make enough to go to
Brighton's Churchill Square with her
mates but no joy yet... I can
see that I'm going to have to manage
her expectations a bit as well!
Have fun, I am!

Is Buy to Let right for you?
by Nicola Cairncross and
featured in Wealth Tips 101 (see the right hand column)
You
know by now that I like to start the sexiest segments with a
few nice statistics - just to calm you down! While all of
these statistics are from the UK, I would guess that the
information is largely true of not only the USA but also
most developed countries.
According to the Office of National Statistics in the UK,
rents have risen on average by 13% since 1962.
Countrywide Estate Agents in the UK have over 80 branches
across the UK and they say that the average tenant is
under 35
relatively new to their job
earn an average of #18,000 per year
pay an average of #524 per month rent (outside London)
What is the point of the above? Well, when considering
buy to let, would you rather buy a property that is going to
appeal to the most number of people, or the least? Why make
things hard for yourself? The other thing to do, is to sit
down and make a list of the things that would attract you,
if you were looking for a rental property. Imagine yourself
at 35, single, with a new job (sounds very attractive to
those of us with children under 8, I can tell you!)
Look for some outside space, garage or off street
parking, nice clean common parts, rooms that get the sun, a
safe feeling about the surrounding area, local shops for the
basics. Avoid noise in the form of traffic, neighbours, an
airport or local night clubs / superpubs. Avoid low lying
areas (flooding), parking facilities through gardens or dark
areas and particularly flats above chip shops or other fast
food outlets!
In 1996 in the UK, 10 million households contained
married couples and 6 million contained one person only. By
2016, this is predicted to be...

The
Money Gym is a great idea
which Nicola does with all her energy and I
recommend it to many women (not sure why I do not
mention it to men!)
The group discussions are full of information
which all members contribute to and I have met great
people through it.
Like any relationship it takes two
to tango - and
The Money Gym is equally what you can
contribute as well as what you would like from it.

This week we're in Lane #1 : Business
Discounting is like a drug
by Nicola Cairncross
I
came across this great article on Michel Fortin's site -
I've been spending a lot of time on his site and blog since
reading about Michel & Sylvie's experiences with breast
cancer and their amazing way of dealing with it all.... Read
more about that and watch Sylvie auction off her scalp in
aid of her favourite charity
here >>>
Michel Fortin of
www.SuccessDoctor.com says on Business Marketing in the
21st Century:
"Top-of-mind awareness" is a term originally coined by Ellis
Verdi, the once president of the National Retail Advertisers
Council, and the owner of an advertising agency in New York.
He said that what most people wrongfully seek to accomplish
in their promotional efforts is to obtain short-term
cashflow and not long-term results. And they usually
accomplish this by offering sales, promotions, discounts and
price reductions.
As he said at a recent conference, "Discounting is really
like a drug. It brings in some business, and for some it may
even bring in a lot of business. But the effect usually
wears off and the company will soon find itself with the
need to discount further in order to create more business
let alone to stay in it."
Top-of-mind awareness, however ...

Quote of the week
"Defeat may test you; it need not stop you.
Regard apparent failure, disappointment, or defeat
simply as signposts that success is just around the
corner. Use them as greater incentives to
forge ahead and suddenly there will loom upon your
pathway, your heart's desire or something better."

Pay Yourself First
by
Nicola Cairncross
There's an interesting post about the Rich Dad theory of "Pay Yourself First" a concept which I heartily agree with but realise that it's the first and biggest challenge for many people starting out on their wealth creation journey.
If you are not familiar with it, you can read the whole post (with concept and instructions) over here >>>>> but basically it's about taking money regularly out of your pay cheque FIRST and investing it to grow, before you do the other stuff like pay the bills and spend on holidays and recreation etc.
Now the challenge with that is, it's rare to meet a Money Gym client, who, in the first instance, doesn't think that they DON'T have any money to spare. That is, after all why they join
The Money Gym, because they want to create more financial abundance in their life, not less! Some Money Gym clients are even unsure about whether they can afford
The Money Gym (LOL).
Just yesterday a lady wrote to me to say that she had come out of a divorce with a fully paid off house worth £350,000 but no ...
