The Niche The Better
by Nicola Cairncross and
featured in Wealth Tips 101 (see the right hand column)
One of the most powerful secrets of the internet is that the
more niche your site is, the better. The more esoteric your
idea, the more likely you are to attract a faithful
following.
I have a friend who is a successful business travel
expert by day, but she creates the most amazing American
folk art (Amish style) dolls by night. She buys the patterns
and materials direct from the USA via websites advertising
the products. We are trying to pursuade her that there may
be a market for these dolls via the internet - she currently
sells via craft fairs.
So
if you have a passion, or a hobby, or something you want to
learn about, one of the best ways to make a start is to
create a website; you will start to attract people who are
interested in the same things as you.
If you then go one step further, and offer a discussion
group or newsletter about your chosen subject, you will
start to build a reservoir of folk who are on the same
wavelength. No matter that you don't yet have a product or
service to market to them, you will have a pool of customers
or clients for the future, all of whom know other people
with the same interests.
If you then think deeply about your chosen subject,
especially if it is one that has inspired or affected you
deeply, you may be able to come up with five, seven, eight,
nine or ten key things that would be useful to other people
interested in the same subject. Mindmapping is useful for
this exercise.
Perhaps you may choose eight things of interest; for
example...

Hello
Nicola
I just thought I would let you know that after reading
one of your e-mails I had saved, I followed the advice
re. joining the Ecademy in order to boost web site and
profile listings.
I joined a couple of days ago, and I did a search today
on my own name in Google, and the Ecademy listing comes
out top.
In fact, I'm listed in all top six results even if the
last ones refer to my employed work.
Thanks for the advice and tips. I still need to learn a
lot more and would love to improve my web site and
search engine ranking.

This week we're in Lane #2 : Internet
Just in case you think it's hard for you...
by Nicola Cairncross
So many people try to make money online and give up after
the first attempt (saying "it just doesn't work, it's a
scam" and there are still some in my own camp I'm trying to
convince LOL.....
However, when I read this email I just had to share it. It's
a guy known as
SEO
Diamond aka Ross Goldberg, to whom I've been introduced
by George Levy and it makes one ashamed to give up too soon
surely?

"I
want you to know a bit about my history and what I've done
and been through.
I spent 8 years in retail management and 6 years in the Army
Reserves. Shortly after joining the Army, I became very ill
with phantom pains all over my body. I was never meant to be
in the military (I was the kid in High School that took 20
minutes running the mile [while smoking a cigarette :-)])
and my body reminded me of that fact quite often.
I was eventually diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (3 years
later), which is odd because most effected by the disease
are women (roughly 90%). The pain became so severe, that in
2005 I could no longer work outside of my home.
The Department of Veterans Affairs gave me roughly $1000 per
month to go to college. This was next to nothing as I had 2
kids (3 now) and we were barely making it. My wife had to
stay home to take care of the little ones, as I had moments
where I couldn't lift my infant daughter. We were living far
below the poverty line and life was beyond miserable.
In June of 2005 I decided to start a business online. I sold
a PSP (for about $400 when they were still very popular) to
generate the income I needed to start and opened a store on
Ebay. Two weeks later I went into a coma. My diagnosis from
that was Encephalomyelitis (swelling of the brain and spine)
and Pneumonia. I awoke roughly 10 days later paralyzed.
I rehabilitated quickly and was back home in a wheelchair
30 days after the coma began. I checked my Paypal account to
find roughly $1000 in profit there. Within 60 days I was
walking again, but I still can't feel hot or cold from my
shoulders down and have 50% feeling from my shoulders down,
30% from my waist down, and 10% from my knees down. All I
can feel in these areas is pain.
My Ebay store turned into...

The Secret's Secret
Nicola says:
Brett
McFall is a great guy – he’s a brilliant
internet marketer and co-Founder of the
World Internet Summit (an event I always
attend). He’s just written a brilliant and
controversial blog posting about The Secret
which we all love over here!
Brett says: You’re
not being told the full story.
I don’t know if you’ve been caught up in
the wave of interest and excitement over the
“docu-movie” sweeping the world, “The
Secret” - but chances are you’re going to
hear about it very soon if you haven’t.
There is something about it which I feel
I have to say.
Here’s why…

A note from Nicola

Dear Friend
I’ve had a great week, kicking off
with talking to ex-Money Gym client
Greg Southey, one of our partners in
SuperMatchSoftware.com. I love
talking to Greg – he was calling
from his new swanky corner office at
the dynamic software company in
Greenwich he’s now the MD of...
oooooooooooh! Weirdly enough he was
going to have lunch with Judith
Morgan afterwards.
On Sunday I went to stay with Judith
in her docklands apartment
overlooking the wide sweep of the
Thames, facing the gherkin and the
London Eye. Marvellous views and
marvellous company with Judith’s
mate, Nicola King there too. We had
lunch, played cashflow for hours and
while waiting for my 26,566 emails
to download (don’t ask!) we had
dinner, all the while talking,
laughing and having a load of fun
while trying not to talk work.
Then Judith and Nicola demonstrated
their new holiday toys, which are
floaties for grownups that you sit
in, in the swimming pool. They had
pool tested them in the Caribbean
and Judith has treated Nicola. They
collapsed with a cunning triple
twist action – so cunning that
nobody could collapse them again,
but we did collapse with laughter
trying to figure it out.
Not talking about work was
particularly difficult as Judith is
our partner in
The Money Gym, but we
tried because Judith was coming down
to ours for a Money Gym strategy day
on Tuesday.
Judith did, however, manage to drop
into the conversation a fairly
radical thought for me to mull over
– namely that
The Money Gym, while
enabling our clients to make people
hundreds of thousands of pounds, and
some have made millions already, is
just too damn cheap at its current
membership level of £5,500 per year.
She asked me to think about raising
it quite substantially and soon too!
She told the story of how she had
been having a conversation with a
potential new client about joining
us, and the potential new client
(who Judith knew we could help, and
help quickly, by turning the equity
in her property into 1.6 million
property portfolio) said “Oh Judith,
I really want to do it but it’s just
so expensive” and Judith, while
explaining to this potential new
client that one of our clients had
made £80,000 in just ONE deal, how
another had made £16,000 extra
profit in four weeks for her
boyfriend from just ONE thing she
learned at ONE of our workshops,
that many of our clients are now
financially free and others have
made literally millions from what
they learned with us... well, she
had this sudden bolt of intuition
that we were TOO DAMNED CHEAP!!
Do you get those? You can’t mistake
them, they are like being kicked in
the tummy by a virtual hob nailed
boot!
So I put that thought to work to
mull around in my head, while I
tubed it across town (Docklands to
W9 is too far for even me to get a
cab!!) and to the Ecademy Blackstar
networking day. It was the biggest
they have had to date, due to a last
minute rush before they doubled the
membership fee of Blackstar in early
January.
The first part of the day was
presentations around networking
effectively, then we went into
Mastermind huddles of five people
and each of us brought a business
challenge to the table.
The guy to my left told the story of
how 2006 had been a challenging
year, with his business partner
suddenly upping and leaving, but he
told us that he had doubled his
fees, and closed 26 new clients over
the Christmas period alone!! There’s
a bit of a theme emerging here… that
seemed like a bit of a message from
the Universe to me but…still I
wasn’t sure.
I used Judith’s idea of raising our
Money Gym fees as my challenge for
the Mastermind group, because, while
I know that it’s worth way more than
we charge, I was worried about the
flow of clients drying up completely
(scarcity thinking you see! Even I
fall prey to it sometimes!).
My fellow Blackstar’s – none of whom
knew me, or knew of
The Money Gym -
listened to my fears, asked
questions about the value we deliver
and the features and benefits, to
elicit clarity, then they gave their
feedback.
One said that it was worth at least
£50k per year, one said that we
should at least double the fee to
£10k a year, and everyone was in
agreement that – particularly if it
does what I said it does (and it
does!) then it was TOO DAMNED CHEAP.
Then we had lunch and then the fun
1:2:1 meetings took place. It’s a
bit like speed networking for half
an hour at a time. I still find that
bit a touch overwhelming but I met
some great people.
Judith came down on Tuesday and as
Steve said “….. today was fab, we
have a clear vision (for The Money
Gym for the next three years). Maybe
a bit more laser like for next time
though...much as I LOVE spending the
whole day listening to two wonderful
entrepreneurs hammer stuff out!!”
Judith and I work the same way; we
think while we talk, while Steve
finds that infuriating!! He kept
wandering off to do jobs, and coming
back when we got to the point – very
funny!
So we have decided that – within the
next three weeks – we will be
relaunching
The Money Gym. We are
adding some REALLY EXCITING extras
and the Platinum membership is going
to go up – quite substantially.
Watch this space…and if you have
been thinking of joining
The Money
Gym Platinum, you have just a couple
of weeks left to take advantage of
our current price - find out more
and book your call with Judith to
see if it's right for you by
visiting
http://www.themoneygym.com/choices.htm
It’ll be increasing on Valentines Day
because we LOVE
The Money Gym, we
LOVE our clients, we LOVE their
results and we LOVE ourselves just
enough to be able to do this.
Why don’t you fall in love with your
finances again by joining us?
On the personal front, I'm off to Kim’s tonight – it’s her
birthday, and last week it was
Heather’s birthday and Holly’s.
Here’s the gallery of birthday
rogues!

Have fun, I am!
