What One Little Thing Did You Do?
by
Nicola Cairncross featuring Marlon Sanders
My O My! How synchroncity at work is a wonderful thing.
I've been asked some wonderful questions so many times
this week but the big fat daddy of a recurring question
is "what one thing......?" and to be honest, I usually
like to distil my questions down to 1-3 max as it get
folks to focus, so I often use this device myself.
Well, two people I respect a lot have indirectly been in
contact this week...........Kirt Christensen (who I met
at the World Internet Summit the first time I spoke
there and then who was so sweet at the Millionaire Mind
event when I was so nervous about speaking in front of
1000+ peeps) sent me a link to a BRILLIANT post by
Marlon Sanders (remember his interns' diary that I
bought and raved about?) well after I mailed him about
how much I thought they had done a great job, Marlon was
my first "friend" on MySpace!!) He's down to earth,
straight talking, gives so much value and he's funny.
(Look, there's not an affiliate link in sight, I have a
Justin Timberlake party to go to on Second Life and a
virtual boyfriend back from holiday so it must be bloody
good if I'm delaying that to write about it - I'm on a
virtual promise here so read this stuff people!!)
Anyway, here's an extract of Marlon's post and the link
to read more.....genius writing at it's most authentic!
Check out Kirt's site too (http://www.scientificmarketing.com)-
he's a good bloke.

There are 6 basic ways to get dough online:
1. Promote affiliate products
2. Google adsense
3. Sell a service
4. Sell advertising
5. Sell physical products (think ebay)
6. Sell information
You’ll notice that the last 4 all involve selling
something. That’s the approach I wanna talk to you about
today.

"Just to say a huge thank you to Nicola for
the eprogramme (available via
www.TheMoneyGymClub.com).
It is fantastic and has really opened my
eyes regarding wealth creation. I have also
read some of the books mentioned and in
particular found Joseph Jaworski's book
'Synchronicity The Inner Path of Leadership'
inspiring.
Thank you - long may you prosper.

What Drives You To Succeed?
by Nicola
Cairncross
I was inspired to write the the
following, and share with you one of the
reasons I'm so driven to succeed today,
after idly clicking through on a link on Lea
Woodward's site to a site called Unitus -
http://www.Unitas.com .
While looking for a link to donate to a
brilliantly worthy cause, I found a link to
donate AND create a "tribute page" to an
inspiring woman. I know loads of inspiring
women, in no particular order; my partner
Judith Morgan, Sarah Cairncross, Kim Black,
Heather Cairncross, Phoebe Soremekun who is
shaping up brilliantly. However,
interestingly as I haven't seen her for
years, the first person to pop into my head
was my mother and 30 minutes later…
My mother Patricia Lish, was a talented
performer and a dancer, she was in the first
West End production of The King & I, with
Yul Brynner. She was also, with my “Aunt”,
her best friend whose name I can’t spell, a
member of the dance troupe The Dolly Birds,
who appeared with Lionel Blair on one of the
first TV shows in the very early 60's. They
told racy stories of repertory theatre,
dodgy b&b’s and Adam Faith!
When she met my father, Thomas Cochrane
McKenzie, a naval officer, she fell in love,
and was forced to give up her showbiz career
and get married, by her mother, Amelia Lish,
who was a wonderful woman but a right
matriarch.
You had to in those days…..you couldn’t
have it all unless you were particularly
strong willed and lucky.
She ended up....

Dear
Following on from the success article
above, still on the topic of what makes people
want to be a success, I often say that
the “swivel factor” is huge for me.
I love the fact that I write for a
living, and have a book on Amazon, and
that is all the sweeter because I
actually had to pay to enter my English
Language and English Literature O’level,
because my English teacher did not
believe I would pass and he wouldn’t
enter me as the school would lose money
if he did and I failed. That was a bit
of a shocker in the mid-seventies I can
tell you!
So my mother paid, after I assured her
that I would get a C-pass at least, and
I ended up with 2 x A passes. Ha ha!
My middle finger goes up metaphorically
in my mind every time I think of that,
and while I know it’s not a particularly
ladylike emotion, I revel in it.
The showing of other people, that they
are wrong about you, is a big motivator.
The folks I think of now when I think
about The Money Gym are all those people
who thought I was a flake, moving from
job to job, trying to start business
after business, trying opportunity after
opportunity, reading book after book.
That other well known visual sign, using
two fingers not one, has a long pedigree
and today, from Chris Barrow’s ezine,
comes the wonderful nugget of how that
sign came to be: "It was believed
among the English archers during the
Hundred Years War that the French
intended to cut off the first and second
right hand fingers of every captured
archer to prevent him from again using a
bow. The archers raised those two
fingers to the advancing French as a
gesture of defiance." From The Hundred
Years War by Robin Neillands.
Which reminds me of the story of the
olden days bloke – Cortez? He took his
troops to South America and, to motivate
them to succeed (success = murder as
many natives as possible) burned all the
boats bar one, presumably that one for
him to make his escape in. His personal
contingency plan – LOL
However you motivate yourself to
succeed, find something. The burning of
the bridge, the cattle prod or the
reward, the stick or the carrot, the
swivel factor…….it’s all good. Whatever
works for you.
But enjoy the journey, because success
is relative and who knows what tomorrow
has in store for us.
Have fun, we always are.
