As recently as 2003,
Marion couldn’t bring herself to buy her favourite
newspaper on Wednesdays because that was the day the
money section appeared within its pages.
She was, to
use her own words, a financial ostrich, and didn’t
need any reminders of how confused and scared she
felt around the subject of personal finance.
“I didn't know why I felt that way; I was
intelligent and well educated. Stranger still, at
work I was financially savvy. During a long career
in commercial property management, I had always
loved the money side of my job and saved the company
many tens of thousands of pounds each year,
maximising rental incomes and reducing service
charges.
Yet my own money ran through my fingers. I
had no concept of saving and investing, because
although I earned a high salary, I needed exactly
that amount to live on each month - and bizarrely,
my expenses went up each time my pay packet did!”

Gym coach.
Marion left London in the late 90's and settled in
Ireland. By 2001, she had completed her coach
training and set up her own practice. Though she had
a steady stream of clients, she didn't feel in
control of her business: “one stream of income plus
zero marketing skills equalled a roller coaster ride
with no seatbelt. I wanted to get off but didn't
know how.”
In January 2003 she became a client of Nicola’s on
the Money Gym and started to unpick her beliefs
about money and learn more about marketing her
business. She began a regular newsletter, helping
increase her ‘know, like and trust’ factors for
potential clients, and wrote and created a 10 module
goal achievement e-course which continues to bring
her passive income today.
In creating her road to financial freedom, and in
line with her values and interests, Marion is
currently concentrating on business-building and
internet marketing though has previously invested in
property and is looking forward to investing more
time and money in the stock market.
As well as her own one-to-one coaching business she
has designed and runs the ‘Measurably Better’ group
coaching programme, and has partnered with Judith on
the ‘Three Wise Women’ well being programme for
women in their 40s and 50s, businesses that she
believes have plenty of potential for growth.
As a coach, she has helped many clients over the
years to achieve their business, financial and
personal goals. Within the Money Gym, she
particularly enjoys working with clients who are in
the early stages of their wealth creation journey or
who feel isolated and anxious about debt. She can
nurture and push forward in equal measure.
Having benefited from the Money Gym on her own
journey to financial intelligence she has a strong
desire now to help others reach their own wealth
creation goals and have fun every step on the way
there.
Marion is authentic, compassionate, resourceful and
supportive. She lives in a charming old farmhouse
overlooking the beautiful Glen of Aherlow in the
south west of Ireland with her husband, son, horses,
cats and dogs, sneaking back to the sanity of
‘single girl, city life’ as often as she can escape.
She loves reading, writing, falling over on ski
slopes, Austrian men and sleeping children.
